lightningtiger Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I've been busy again everyone. Yep, it's a postal van - I was meant to make this months ago, so two hours ago I decided to finally design a van to get the mail though ! Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
chibi_joker Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 You are on a roll lightningtiger! I actually like this even better than the CFS truck, I have a great love for shiny red cars Awesome work! Quote
vladoniki Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Great van. How did you make the stickers? Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 Thanks 'chibi_joker' and 'vladoniki' for your kind words. Glad you like the van 'chibi_joker', and 'vladoniki' photo sticker paper and images from Google Images - I posted in general news the other day on how I do this basically. More details required just PM me anytime anyone who wants to know. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
slacker int Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 stop building already! nice work again LT... you seem to be turning out new MOC's every day! does the rear hatch open? just as a thought, most of these types of van's (in Canada since i don't live in Australia) have split opening rear doors. I think I would change the rear to include opening doors, or at least swap that 4 wide window and plates for two 2 wide pieces to give the simulated look of a split rear door. keep em coming! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 Thanks 'slacker int' for your kind comments , I was thinking about doing a split door on the rear, still might, but this was actually built in less than two hours from bare chassis to being stickered. I'll look into the doors and try it as long as the hinge pieces don't stick out too far. I'm a conformist! ! P.S. here is a photo of the inspiration for this MOC....... Quote
John31388 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 The van looks great your a moc building machine. Quote
awesomebrick Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 You just get better and better I can't wait to see the completed town but at this rate you'll have an entire city in notime Once again keep up the great work! Awesome brick Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 Thanks 'John31388' for your kind words - I'm planning to do another vehicle today (later on S.A. time - let me sleep first ) - I'm a conformist! ! Quote
FinalFeature Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Your van looks just like the real one. Very nice job on the stickers lightningtiger. LegoGalactus Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 Thanks to 'LegoGalactus' and 'awesomebrick' (who slipped from the radar earlier ) for your kind comments . Now I'll have to make a custom minifig for both van and post office. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
AllanSmith Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Great MOC. You are really on a roll with building. Do you have a real job? cause you seem to be building all the time. My creative spark has died at the moment Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 Thanks for the kind comments 'AllanSmith' - I'm a self-employed TV/VIDEO/HI-FI repairer, so sometimes I MOC to keep my brain on cue really to go to work as I'm on call 12 hours a day up to the full seven days a week as well ! Trying to find uniforms to copy - not so easy this, but I'll keep on going ! I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
Hewman Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Thanks 'slacker int' for your kind comments , I was thinking about doing a split door on the rear, still might, but this was actually built in less than two hours from bare chassis to being stickered. I'll look into the doors and try it as long as the hinge pieces don't stick out too far.I'm a conformist! ! P.S. here is a photo of the inspiration for this MOC....... I saw your first post and thought "I'm going to put up a pic of a real Aus Post van just to show how brilliantly accurate yours is", then I scroll down and see this. Fantastic stuff, definitely some of your best work! Keep on MOCing! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 Thanks 'Hewman' for you kind words - yeah, thought I'd get in quickly with a picture of a real post van. Dam, this minifig Aussie Post driver torso is hard to do - I'll keep going ! Quote
dr_spock Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Thanks for the kind comments 'AllanSmith' - I'm a self-employed TV/VIDEO/HI-FI repairer, so sometimes I MOC to keep my brain on cue really to go to work as I'm on call 12 hours a day up to the full seven days a week as well !Trying to find uniforms to copy - not so easy this, but I'll keep on going ! I'm a conformist! everyone ! Nice work on the van, looks like the real thing. So that's how you find time to build. Are you going to do a Lego TV repair truck too? Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 Thanks 'dr_spock' for your kind comments, now a tv repair van......thanks to discount stores selling tv's real cheap they are not many of us left - I'll think about an antenna installation/repair van that I think would be good. Anyway while I'm wait for work to come in I'm designing or building something - keeps the brain active and focused. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
jonwil Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 With all the talk about the move to Digital TV and the Analog switch-off, an antenna/digital tv setup/etc van might be the go :) Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 Yeah, you're right 'jonwil' thanks for the comment .......but I wonder why no one has sugested a Betta or Retrovision store eh ? It's worth a thought though ! Minifig torso print box - soon printing torso - so I'll have a driver for the van. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
jonwil Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Yeah, a Retravision would fit in a small town (whereas, say, a Harvey Norman would not) Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 I'll see what I can come up with 'jonwil' - I'm a conformist! ! Quote
tulatin Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I've been busy again everyone. Yep, it's a postal van - I was meant to make this months ago, so two hours ago I decided to finally design a van to get the mail though ! Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! It looks pretty swell. Though I've been wondering - where did you get those cheese slopes for headlights? Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 Thanks 'tulatin' for your comment - some of the larger trucks like the 3180 tanker truck have these trans=clear slopes. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Lord Arjay Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Darn I missed this. Thats what happens when when you build a MOC every day practically . Anyway that's a nice postal van lightningtiger, very similar in shape to the real thing. The colour on the decal doesn't mach up all that well but I appreciate that it would be hard to get right. Overall another great build, well done! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 Thanks 'Lord Arjay' for your comments - yeah it's pretty hard to match a real print image to the colours of lego bricks and plates - in future - hello, PaintBox ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
