Kikuichimonji Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 So, I was bored again last friday. Plus, I got in 4 Bricklink orders last week, so it was building time again. This time, symmetry again . I got lots of click hinges from BL, so I wanted to use those. At least 50% of this ship consists of newly acquired pieces. The Jeopardy is a small assault fighter created by Incom. It was meant for the Rebellion but they never bought lots of them. However, rogues and mercenaries seemed to favor to Jeopardy quite a lot, and Incom sold much more fighters to them then to the Rebellion. The Jeopardy features 4 small laser cannons at the sides of the main part and 4 large laser cannons near the engines. It has 4 engines, 2 large ones on the wings and 4 small ones at the back of the main part. The wings can move in various positions. Unlike most Incom ships, the left and right wing can move seperately from one another. Using this unique feature, the pilot can concentrate the engines or blasters. Onto the pictures... Front shot Back shot showing detailing and one of the main engines (design 'borrowed' from the ISD) Gallery when moderated Let me know what you guys think  Quote
Starwars4J Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I really like the greebles, and the design of the fighter (and the colorscheme), but the cockpit isn't closed (which is always a gripe of mine) Quote
Sir Dillon Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Wow, I think this is my favorite of your ships, I really like the shape of it, the smoothness, and the greebling. The colour scheme also looks nice and well distributed through the ship. The only criticism I can think of is that it might look better if the wing part next to the engines was a little bulkier. Overall, a great ship. You should get bored more often  Quote
ApophisV Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Great fighter! It seems to be a great alternate design of the yellow Naboo Fighter, only much more aggressive! (before: " " -> now:" ") I like the design of the engines / wings and of the rear (though the scimitars are disturbing me, but the scorpions are great!) and the outer guns are looking... whoah! Great design! Another detailI don't like is the front of the ship, the 4x4 cylinder just doesn't work for me in comination with the dark grey part beneath the cylinder (what kind of part is that???) Finally the oveall shape of the ship is really nice, I especially like that you lifted the engines with the click hinge connection up so that they arent on one level with the main hull anymore. As a last word I would like to mention that I really like how you incorporate all those castle-, pirates- and whatever parts into your space creations, even if you are not the first who tried this you mostly (except the scimitars in THIS creation ) always achieved a cool look with it while most others always fail with this technicque! So keep this great work up and show us more of it! I sure see lots of potential! Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted February 26, 2006 Author Posted February 26, 2006 Thanks for your comments guys  Starwars4J: The cockpit actually is airtight. Do you mean that the fences on the side have openings? I used closed fences first but liked this better. Dillon: I tried bulking those parts but I didn't like the looks of it... Apo: I'm not a huge fan of the scimitars either, but the part they're attached to has 2 technic holes on the sides. This was the best way to fill those up (but I didn't really try another solution). Also, I don't know exactly what part you mean. I suppose it's this part from the Life on Mars series. I ordered tons of LoM pieces and seriously wondered why I never bought any LoM set. So much useful pieces! Then again, that is the back of the ship, so it could be another part For the next update, I'll try to change the scimitars and add some kind of control panel or levers in the cockpit (it just didn't fit anymore). Plus, I'll be picking up a Tuner X this week for some yellow 1x1 slopes. I'll be adding those to the rear of the guns to make them look better. Also, I'll try to make the front of the guns allign with the front of the ship. Also, I made a picture of the gun construction. I'll add the 1x1 slope to the back using the same technic pin used up front. Did that on my beefed up White Ash and it looked great. Gun construction: Quote
snefroe Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 great ship, Kiku! ;) i only wonder what the swords are for... Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I like it, the colours scheme rocks without looking like a wanabe Naboo Fighter. Quote
Chuck Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 It vaguely seems a little blocky. May I suggest that you beef up the joints connecting the wings with some SNOT. Good idea using a scorpion as a greeblie. score: 8.5/10 -l2k- Quote
ApophisV Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Apo: I'm not a huge fan of the scimitars either, but the part they're attached to has 2 technic holes on the sides. This was the best way to fill those up (but I didn't really try another solution). I always put two round 1x1 plates in those holes if I don't find any other use for them, not the craziest construction, but in the most cases it looked better than any other things I tried... Also, I don't know exactly what part you mean. I suppose it's this part from the Life on Mars series. I ordered tons of LoM pieces and seriously wondered why I never bought any LoM set. So much useful pieces! Then again, that is the back of the ship, so it could be another part No, I was talking about the front where you used that round 4x4 brick with technic holes. The round front itself is a great idea, but there are some edges and corners beneath the round part which make the front look less smooth than it is supposed to be... Actually I really like that LoM piece, it looks like a great greebling part! Also, I made a picture of the gun construction. I'll add the 1x1 slope to the back using the same technic pin used up front. Did that on my beefed up White Ash and it looked great. Thanks alot, I'll add this image to my personal collection of instruction pics of cool techniques! Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted February 26, 2006 Author Posted February 26, 2006 Sne: I don't know what the swords are for either, they didn't look to bad on it. Will likely switch them for something else for version 2. Lego2000: I'll try adding some SNOT for version 2. It does indeed look a bit plain but I don't think it looks blocky at all. Apo: Up front I used 2 macaroni bricks. I have to agree that the front is rather ugly due to the lack of SNOT pieces that'll look good on/under macaroni bricks. I like the idea for 1x1 round bricks, but I'll see what I'll make out of it. Tried metal detectors which looked real good but didn't completely fit... Quote
SuvieD Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 You are getting better with each build. I like this one a lot. Nothing really new to add. Swords are weird, I would use a technic half pin with a bomb of some kind. No one will see the hole until you have dropped a bunker bomb on them anyway. Wing supports seem too small, maybe an extra brick width on one side of it. Use plenty of slopes. NIce ship and will be even better once you finish it the way you want it. Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 Apo, I finally figured out which part you meant. It's this one. Hope I'm right this time... Also, I've been working on the ship this afternoon. I changed lots of things but I'm still not satisfied. I've ordered some stuff of Bricklink, when that order comes in I can finish version 2.0 and post pictures of it. Hope to have it finished by Thursday... Quote
