ApophisV Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Since the insanity begun yesterday here in Germany I thought I should start a topic about it! First of all I want to know if and how you celebrate this! Here in Aachen all the "Jecken" (the "Insanes" *wacko* ) go to the market place in front of the town hall and have a huuuuge party beginning at 11.11 in the morning, the carnival prince is speaking in front of the crowd, older people as well as young folks, all are singing funny songs, consuming alcohol and just having fun! After the show ends the people spread all over Aachen and the surrounding cities and villages, there is almost everywhere another party going on! Dana (Aredhel) and me were afterwards at the "Pennzelt", a huge tent on the other side of the town hall, where we celecrated till 8 o'clock in the evening... Surprisingly we two are already awake today and there is no headache!  I have to admit that we wont have any other party till saturday since I have an important math test, but fater it we sure will go out having some fun! ;) But the other important carnival day here (besides the thursday which is called "Fettdonnerstag" here (meaning something like "Fat thursday")) will be monday with it's huge parades everywhere, but I will tell from it next week! ) So finally I will attach pictures of our costumes, because Aredhel was Storm and I was Wolverine! So please tell us what are your traditions? Quote
Hobbes Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 So please tell us what are your traditions? Hide. I grew up in Austria's most famous carnival city, Villach. Oddly enough I've never been a fan of that tradition. Also, there's an annual carnival meeting from Villach broadcasted on TV, which was good back in the 70s, early 80s, but for quite some time has been cr@p, and I can't stand it anymore. So, to me that "season" simply doesn't exist. Your costumes are pretty good, though Quote
masterchief5611 Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 My tradition is watch all the Halloween movies at 1a.m. Halloween and again at 10p.m. same day. (for the 1a.m. showing I stay up all night and I am 14). I guess this is a tradition too but I buy at least 5 orders from S@H. Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 It's starting tomorrow over here :-D Quote
