Follows Closely Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I am building a storage solution for our LEGO blocks. The kids have want to have a row of tubes similar to what you would find on a pick a brick wall. Has anyone been able to buy something similar to what you would find at a LEGO store's pick a brick wall? Quote
Big Cam Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I'm sure a big hardware store would have something similar. Does it need to be clear? I know PVC pipe comes that big. Quote

Clear would be ideal. The PVC pipe does not have an end like PAB tubes do. I plan on simply making a flush circle opening with 2/5 of the opening covered with a transparent piece of plexiglass. I like how the PAB wall tubes stick out a few inches. The colors show much better that way. Quote
k_peek_2000 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) Call your local lego store on a not busy day, and tell them you want to recreate the PaB wall in your home and would like to see how its done and go behind the wall, ect. Lego Stores are usually really awesome towards AFOLs (at least the ones I go to), so I'm sure they'd be fine with that. Edited March 30, 2010 by k_peek_2000 Quote
SlyOwl Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I believe the original PaB walls had quarter-sphere containers, rather than half-sealed tubes. These could be easier to make and would be easier to get parts out of, as they have no edges or corners on the inside. Some sort of plastic mixing bowl, sawed in half, and glued onto a strip of wood that can be attached to the wall would be a good solution. From a MOCing perspective, however, I find that removable and portable containers are much easier to use, and fixed ones are annoying when using large amounts of parts from one container. Quote

I agree that it is not practical, I am thinking of only appearance here. I don't think I will end up doing this. I will post my plans soon. Quote
