tin7_creations Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I'm sure many of you who come to this forum have seen my custom minifigs. I don't have any decal printing technology, so I use sticker labels. The problem is, the colors for my labels never come out exactly the same as the pieces. I use the bricklink color list to find colors for my design. But they never print out the same; most of the time, the decal is much lighter in color than the plastic. So... after that long piece of gibberish... I just want to ask if anyone knows how i can rectify this color problem I have. thanks ~tin7 Quote
Steel Dragon Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I have the exact same problem, and my attempts to color decals darker on my computer have met with little success. I think fixing it could be tough, considering it's and end-user problem (your printer/paper) rather than a design mistake made by the decalers. Quote
LuxorV Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Indeed this is a problem most of us non special decal paper users must face. I find it that sticking a piece of Scotch® MagicTM Tape on the design helps a bit; but it's not the solution. I think darkening the original image is the only solution, but it must be made as a case-by-case process, and it probably is different from printer to printer and possibly from paper to paper. Anothe aspect to take into consideration is that it is that not only the colour is lighte, but it is also less brilliant. Again, the scotch tape can help a bit here. I'm sorry I can't help more, but I never came up with a good program to solve this issue myself, so I don't know what else to suggest. Btw, it appaers to be a common problem with white decal paper, too. LuxorV Quote
Rayman Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I would have to agree with LuxorV, often the only solution to this is to alter the colour that is too light in an image editing program. I always have scrap pages of a good quality glossy photo paper on hand to do test prints of my decals before they're ready for the decal paper- It took 6 test prints before I got the skin tone to look right on my Luffy figure. So for each failure I had to go back to the illustrator file and tweak the file until I got a result that I was happy with. Quote
