vmln8r Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 g'day alljust wondering if you guys have your models in display cabnets or out and about???? I have one (8275) in a glass display cabinet, the rest are either on bookshelves or in pieces. You could use pressurised air (can or airbrush) to try and remove dust. Quote
tomacwhite Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I have mine in Ikea shelving which has multiple square shaped blocks where I place each model. They work nicely and are big enough to generally fit flagships in. My 8275 sits in it happily with just the front poking out a little bit. Quote
Milan Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I have a closed glass box (like aquarium) , where I have kept few of my models. It was placed on a shelf and looks nice with model inside. But it was small, now I am building another, bigger one. Quote
Burf2000 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Mine are all in bookcases as its the affordable option for me, i liked to get glass cabinets but i need alot of them Quote
rriggs Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I have my models on shelves. To avoid dust and due to limited space I don't keep any of them built for more than a month or two. Cheers Rog Quote
dr_spock Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 The ones I like I put them on top of my computer desk shelf and dust them from time to time. The other ones are disassembled and become parts for MOCs. Quote
Blakbird Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 g'day alljust wondering if you guys have your models in display cabnets or out and about???? I keep all of my Technic on display at all times because I need to be able to get to them quickly for my website and because they look awesome. The shelves you see are from IKEA. Dust is a problem but keeping the room sealed most of the time helps a lot. Quote
Daniel-Technic Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I keep 8275 and 8421 on ikea tall billy bookcase, with glass door to keep the dust out with foam tape on frame, making it near sealed. I now need to make space for my new crane truck 8258. The rest are disassembled and stored in boxes. Daniel Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) I keep everything on shelves. And yes, dust is a problem. So i keep on dusting (and dusting). But i don't mind: it's part of of the fun. (Well, kind of...) Edited January 8, 2010 by JunkstyleGio Quote
Enilder Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Not too many collections but shelves with glass doors (not perfectly sealed but somewhat). I've been looking into IKEA products to see if there are any book shelves long enough to hold 20+inches LEGO with glass doors but they are either expensive or hard to find. I am thinking of making custom cabinets with maybe plexiglass doors just for LEGOs. I think it will be a cool project. :) Quote
grepin Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 The ones I have assembled are stored on shelves, inside a large cabinet with mirrored doors. This helps with the dust a bit, since the cabinets' doors are kept shut most of the time, and light is also kept away. Having a clear display would be nice, but lighting could be a problem for the parts and stickers, so I've put that project on hold until the cabinet runs out of space. Quote
DLuders Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 (edited) My son and I have Lego Technic sets and MOCs scattered all over the Living Room and basement. They're on the floor ready to play with at all times! My son's friends like grabbing them and drooling over them . Luckily, our Beagle pet doesn't chew on them and only drools when there's food around.... Edited January 11, 2010 by dluders Quote
Sergiu Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I keep some of my sets in glass cabinets and the others on shelfs or wherever there is some space left. The only problem is the dust, but the sets are not very difficult to clean. Quote
Parax Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Dust is not a problem, its a solution! It's why I always have to get the toys out. >:o) Quote
