I e-mailed crowkillers and asked him what his thoughts were and he mailed me back with this to say.

"I really don't care. I'm happy to see things are getting done better. I've notice many things over the years that Lego has done that I have seen before. I look at it this way, if everyone can inspire each other, then it is all good. I've been offering Lego ideas for years. Most builders already use a base design or ideas that The Lego Company has already done in a set, so who is to say who was the first to design what, and who really cares? just have fun building."

This guy is really cool. I wish that he made instrctions for his cars. :(

Uh..... yes, they are both cars. They are both convertibles.

Beyond that..... I don't see enough similarity to even raise the remotest suspicion that someone is copying some else. That's just silly! One is technic and one is system. In what way are they similar - other than they have four wheels and no roof?

Meh.

I am talking about the chrome pieces used behind the seat headrests. That's all.

I just knew that I had seen it done for the same purpose before.

OK fair enough. Sorry, I misunderstood.

A topic entitled... "TLC stealing ideas from builders" seemed a bit provocative.

Still.. it seems a very minor issue and crowkiller's response would be shared by 95% of AFOLs.

Peace

well i guess everybody "steals" from everybody, company designers are no different. the thing is , it's not really "stealing" in most cases, it's using ideas from others for your own model. i don't mind about that, as long as the user doesn't claim to idea to be his...

Sorry to bump an old thread, but come on, that's it? Consider the similarities between these:

10179 and Pepa Quin's Millennium Falcon

10212 and dmac's Tydirium (but we know what happened in this case)

10215 and cavegod's Delta-7 (but again, we know what happened - didn't cavegod say he got compensated?)

10221 and Anio's Executor

8017 and Brian Tobin's TIE Advanced x1

I agree with snefroe though; people use others' ideas all the time. I like to call it research...

fallenangel there is no need to bump this topic as Peppermint has stated. Its a five year old topic and whilst you may have an opinion on these sets, the people that started this topic have moved on long ago, and suggest you do as well. Rehashing an argument from five years ago does not leave a positive mark on Eurobricks.

I wouldn't call that stealing. They look nothing alike... Although the OP may not be here anymore, it's. Ot the the MOCer in question invented metal bar headrests. Why start a topic whining about it and saying such things.

It was five years ago. Five Years. Half a decade ago. The OP has not been active since 2007.

EB was a different place five years ago. The OP felt a need to post this thread and there were seven replies (counting the OP responding.) Really and truly it doesn't matter.

In fact I think I need to lock this thread.

There was no need to re-post here. There was no need for you to post after mine and ISC's reprimands. This thread is no longer required.
