legolooney Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Hey Brickers, I'm sure you have all heard of the nmews that LEGO have made a deal with Disney and are now releasing LEGO Toy Story Prince of Persia sets in the new year. However i am more interested in whether or not LEGO will now release Pirates of the Caribbean LEGO. This woul;d explain why they disciontinued the Pirates line, they want to re-introduce it as Pirates of the Caribbean There are loads of Custom POTC Minifigures and MOCs on the web and i'm not sure if LEGO POTC would be a good thing, any thoughts? Until then heres a little poster i made, Quote
PerryDaPirate Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Yuck I would rather wait for the original theme to return then have another fleshie theme. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Welcome to Eurobricks! I'm sure it is not necessarry to post the same topic twice, in different forums. The subject just doesn't belong in the MOC-forum. I'm also sure we had a topic before about POTC LEGO. But I do like the poster you've made! Now only change the name positions. Quote

Joey Lock Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 I hoping there will be, But Im hoping these don't mess it up, making it like Clonewars. Fleshies with HUGE eyes and realistic faces. Also I hope they don't make a specialised Barbossa hat that only looks like his hat, rather than a nice pirate hat that can fit onto Brickbeard. And I bet there gonna make Orlando Blooms shirt open, showing his chest, making him look like the hero. Although there is a few topics already discussing this: POTC or Classic Pirates in 2010 And: LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Quote
Swash Buckler Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 (edited) Well i would really like to see that happening- getting so sick of all those "no more fleshies!" kind of comments- i like fleshies they actually are as cool as yellow figs -still classic pirates would be shame to loose - perhaps they should do both -they have both Star Wars and Space police now for example. Potc sets could have -not only fleshies- but of course more pirate parts and that is great even for those who can't stand potc. I cannot personally understand how can anyone hate as great movie as Curse of the Black Pearl- Dead mans chest is ok adventure but At World's end was kind of strange mix between absolutely wonderful (pirate lords/shipwreck cove/singapore battle/maelstrom fight) and simply a horrible elements (releasing the Calypso, and even though multiple Jacks were funny in the locker -when they appeared again in the brig of Dutchman i was like: "come on are writers dropped their brains themself or what?" -so i really understand if someone don't want lego set with ten Johnny Depp minifigs with one who have missed his brain Edited December 7, 2009 by Swash Buckler Quote
Rick Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Try to do a little searching before posting a topic... there's three topics which I found relatively quickly... http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=33609 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=33606 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=33573 Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted December 7, 2009 Governor Posted December 7, 2009 I'll merge the two. Thanks lad! Did you take care of the duplicate thread in the Pirate MOC forum? I couldn't find it so I'm assuming so. Quote
General Armendariz Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 I really dont think this will work out. Unless befre they release the new movie of POTC all the sets will be based on that movie. With some sets of older movies. Anyone else noticing the name errors in the poster? It looks kinda funny, I didnt know Keira Nightly played a man Quote

It looks kinda funny, I didnt know Keira Nightly played a man Thanks to the Admin for deleting my other duplicate post btw the names are admittedly wrong, in the Actual POTC poster they are in this order as well, i think its in order of how well known they are, check out the real poster on google Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 8, 2009 Governor Posted December 8, 2009 It's time for filmmaking facts! The order in which film credits are listed is known as "billing" and this is determined by whom the studio deems as most important. This order however is obviously not reflected in the artwork, though the importance is signified through visual prominence. Quote
curtisrlee Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Welcome to Eurobricks and Nice Poster! LEGO Pirates of the Carribean Licenced = Gross But I wonder what they CAN make thats awesome like the forts and ships. Hopefully the Black Pearl wont be shrunk to the size of Renegade Runner and I WOULD like some Davy Jones seamen minifigs. Big price tag though. Quote
Ras 74 Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 LEGO Pirates of the Carribean Licenced = Gross Yuck Is this common thoughts from you who loves the Pirates? Wouldn´t you buy those sets anyway? Quote
Swash Buckler Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 (edited) Is this common thoughts from you who loves the Pirates? Wouldn´t you buy those sets anyway? I'm tired of these "truths" that classicpiratefreaks try to feed us all - it is true that lego as all companies needs money and licensed sets are more expensive- because they have specific parts and figures for copying scenes of the movie- so actually it is ok that they are more expensive because they have just the specific parts made for that set! Interesting thing is that there is no that kind of topic in the Mocpages or another legosite with no agelimit- you may think that is because of those kiddies who love the potc but no -it is because here are mostly those adult legofreaks that use most of their money to buy new legos (like me ) and truth is that no it is not possible to buy massive amout of potc sets to get enough parts for some very big classicpirate creation- at least i have many good parts but for making good Potc creations- but i need minifigs and since i am scrappy customizer i would like to see (and buy ) official potc-sets to get figs and perfect parts for better versions of the sets so welcome Lego potc if you are coming! Those who don't like it -just don't buy them- so simple- problem solved- stop mocking potc Edited December 8, 2009 by Swash Buckler Quote
Grimmy Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I actually have never seen Pirates of the Caribbean but Johnny Depp is an amazingly talented actor and their was a lot of money put into the movie. I do like pirate movies. So I'm going to get the movies now and check them out. I think what people are afraid of is Lego blowing up into the mainstream but that's already happening. I'm betting that Lego does make a Pirates of the Caribbean theme especially since Pirates is supposed to be an evergreen theme. Quote
RampantDingo Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 It seems extremely likely that disney might try to milk this last movie for whatever money they can get off the franchise. I don't think this theme would sell better than normal pirates. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Ah, people are we missing something here. If they do POTC it will be marketed towards eight years of age to teenage years, not adult age. So if you don't like it, don't buy it. My son and his friends at school would want a Jack Sparrows to join Indi, Vader or even Batman, it's Lego - a childs toy and a child's unlimitted imagination makes it what ever he or she wants. Quote
Grimmy Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 The movie itself doesn't look like a kids movie to me. I just got the trilogy and I'm halfway through the part 1 where Jack Sparrow is trying to rescue th governor's daughter with some guy who loves her. Quote

I didn't have unlimited imagination as kid - and still i am building legos and i need Jack Sparrow he is impossible to customize well- and legos are mostly marketed to children so your point was no new at all- it is because some people make mistake to think that they are toys Meg***oks are toys no lego The movie itself doesn't look like a kids movie to me. I just got the trilogy and I'm halfway through the part 1 where Jack Sparrow is trying to rescue th governor's daughter with some guy who loves her. It is like Star Wars or Indiana Jones- or old piratemovies- it is not kids movie but it is mainly for us adults who have children's mind - still children loves it and it is used for toys like Sw or indy- there is meg***oks theme from potc but i think it is worth of legoizing as well- strangely enough there were spiderman legos but spidey licence was sold to the meg***oks (Sencorising this seems to be inside joke here ) didn't spidey legos sold well? Lego lover Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Probably in 2011 , in the second year of Disney's license. Good poster . Quote
Finch Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I much prefer the Classic Pirate sets so I probably would not buy any Pirates of the Caribbean ones. Also I have heard that there is a 4th Pirates of the Caribbean movie coming out within 3 years so I would not be surprised if they released it that year. Quote
Bfahome Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Any way of getting a Davy Jones fig and figs that look like his crew members is fine with me (I want to buy several Manta Man impulses to make such a crew). Plus the possibility of new skeleton pieces if they go for sets based on the first movie. I also want a seaweed-covered Jonesey ship. :3 Quote
