Some of you have asked to see some of the buildings together, so I did in the form of a road being repaired. It's to show case my latest shire vehicles, one of which has changed three times in four days (it's in it's final form now). Oh, the digger now rides on the back of it's own trailier.

This how my country town is going to be set up.

My shire maintance dump truck.

The digger on it's trailier.

A simple street scape of bank and hardware store, of course more to come.

The humble service station, on the bend there will be the tyre dealership on that base plate.

Unloading digger (sorry I must have moved the camera).

They are about to start digging, note the road workers sign.

I'll later post close up pictures of the dump truck and trailier in my 'Shire Vehicles' post within the next few days.

Comments welcome.

Looks good, I think what would really throw it over the edge would be to suspend the whole setup off the ground with a few bricks and then inbetween two roadplates, have an actual hole.

Thanks for the feedback 'Big Cam', I might just do that and wow it will be some hole in the ground (like 16 stud long by 8 stud wide). I'll do it A.S.A.P.

Thank you, again. :classic:

You could also build up the sidewalks two plates high which would allow the crews to "dig" into the sidewalks.

That trailer looks fragile, I would go with a bigger one, with multiple axles, something like this:

I don't fully agree with this, as I've never seen that sort of trailer here in Australia. I also think the digger in your picture is far bigger that the one lightningtiger has built so your solution is overkill. Adding one extra axle would be fine. I really like the trailer design other than that.

I think it does not matter are those trailers present in Australia or not, they are used for towing equipment...

That picture is just to get general idea.

Ok, more proportion-precise photo, one from the great Dennis Bosman:

Of course, that was just a friendly suggestion to improve realism of the model...

I think using a prototype that doesn't exist in Australia (and would probably be quite useless due to its small wheels on our quite rough roads) wouldn't really help with realism when he's modelling Australian country shire vehicles.

Each to his own though.

What an exciting project! Looking forward to seeing it develop.

I agree with the guys about the trailer, so I found this on a site local to you. At least I would say it needs to be a dualie?

Great scene! I like the way your town is shaping up. I wouldn't mind seeing some close ups of that building on the corner too. It's nice to see someone building a town rather than a city. I like both, but cities seem to be the dominant form of settlements being built here on the T&T forums.

I agree, I don't think I've ever seen any piece of construction equipment on a single axle trailer. Unless it's perfectly balanced, it would either put a lot of weight on the towing vehicle's hitch, or pull it up. Two axles seem reasonable for a small digger.

Thank you to everybody for commenting.:sweet:

Currently the trailier is undergoing it's twin axle transformation, thanks 'DanUK' for that photo, that's the one I'm trying to base the new trailier on.

Still working on that hole in the ground too.

Pic's up with in two days !
