Selander Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 (edited) During the recent AFOL meeting in Sweden, one member displayed a fantastic farm building. As an accessory, I tried to make a typical Swedish style milk tanker truck. As always for me, design is in 6-wide. I haven't seen anyone else using these wheels as tank elements (yet ?) Any comments and feedback is most welcome, there is defenitely room for improvements. Edited November 30, 2009 by Selander Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I love it ! It really looks like a Scania, fanastic. The tanker, yeah I might try the same trick, looks genuine. Hidden control panel at the rear - great. The front end - very Scania, also it's half SNOT and half studed. Now all we need is two things, a milking shed with storage vat and a milk processing plant. Fanastic work, 'Selander'. Quote
Big Cam Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 The method for the tank portion is brilliant. I like the controls at the back too. Very to scale, it looks good. Quote
Milan Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Great! It looks like the real truck! Tanker is also very nice, as well as controls at the back! Quote
BlueBard Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Great! Clever use of bricks in the cabin and, of course, in the tanker Quote
prateek Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Woah. I love the wheels as the tank, and the hidden controls in the back are really sleek. Great job Quote
Tom Bricks Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I like how you've used tiles and not grille pieces in the front for the grill. Good job with the drum too. Quote
ILikePi Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Clever use of the Castle wheels for the drum, and I really love the striped pattern on the front. I love the doors that hide the controls in the back! Do you mind if I use that in the future? Quote
Rick Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Nice truck. Your Scania design is really good. What I don't like about the tank is the gaps in between the wheels, it just isn't smooth enough (not your fault, it's TLG to blame). Quote
Ras 74 Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Well done Selander! Your Scania trucks is really great and accurate. The tank of it is really nice as well. It is a cleaver use of those weels, and I like the fact that it is not all smooth. Would be sweet if LEGO made them in Metallic Silver or even Chrome Silver. Quote
Rick Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 It is a cleaver use of those weels, and I like the fact that it is not all smooth. The horizontal 'stripes' makes in certainly look more realistic, I just don't like the vertical gaps when you put two or more of those wheels together. TLG could have really made them much more versatile if they thought twice while designing them for the Vikings(?) theme... Quote
Legostein Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Hello! A beautiful designed truck. It's clever in so many ways. As mentioned before, you assembled the truck excellent around the tank. Frurthermore that cockpit mirror construction with the hinge bar is notably clever. And also the 2x1 curved bricks to give the tyical look for a truck of that brand. Very well done! Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Badsneaker Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Looks fabulous as do all your trucks! Quote
dynamic_e Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Man, all these Scania's are giving me envy. Anyone LDD one of these trucks for those not so talented? Quote
Ralph_S Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 It's hard to find something round that has the right diameter I suppose, but I don't like those wheels for the tank because their diameter isn't constant. It gives you ridges running along the tank that I don't think look nice at all. I'd prefer a tank built using some SNOT work with macaroni bricks or cylinder () However, I love the aft part with the pump control panels and the cab is great. I'm impressed that you managed to make it look recogisably like a Scania on this small scale Cheers, Ralph Quote
