Evil Willy Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Well I find this brickshelf folder with every sail on it.... Here But the problem is they are not to scale....Sooooo blahh! But he put those lines there to help if you read the text thing... Quote
Dreamweb Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 So it won't be a problem to print them in the right size, for example you can paste such scan into MS Word or a similar program and then edit its size to match. Quote
john cleese Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 not all of them. Not the vikings or the orient expedition china one. Quote
Evil Willy Posted January 19, 2006 Author Posted January 19, 2006 How would u do that dreamweb..Explain please for I want to do it. Quote
Dreamweb Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Here's what I'd do (without using MS Word): 1. Download the image 2. Open it in IrfanView (if you don't have it, download it, it's free). 3. Cut it at the sides so at either side it ends just where one of the squares ends (I marked it with arrows on the picture) 4. Count the width - in this case it's 40 squares, 1 square = 0,1'' so 40 squares = 4'' = 10,16 cm 5. Choose Resize/Resample in IrfanView (Ctrl+R) and check the width in inches, in my case it was 4,03'' - almost the same so I didn't have to do anything, the error was caused by cutting the image's edges which wasn't that precise. If the width is different type the right width and resize the image (make sure the box "preserve aspect ratio" is checked). 6. Choose Print in IfranView (Ctrl+P) - print the image. 7. Cut the sail In this example the sail was already the right size, perhaps the guy who scanned them made all of the images the right size already, so you don't have to do anything but print them, but you can always check the size in IrfanView. Tell me about your results! Quote
Evil Willy Posted January 21, 2006 Author Posted January 21, 2006 hmm...Im still a bit confused...And I wont get infrred My father has photoshop and ill use that :D ...Ohh I get it now :D Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 30, 2006 Governor Posted January 30, 2006 Have you managed to figure it out yet Willy? If so, tell us of your experiences as it may benefit someone else who is confused. Quote
tophdawg Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 what about the ripped black sails that came with red beard's runner, are you missing those or am i just no noticing one Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 2, 2006 Governor Posted February 2, 2006 By jobe! Mr Tophdawg is absolutely right! That's 3 different sails which this collection does not have! Evill Willy, how could you possibly miss so many sails? This can only mean one thing... You need to obtain more pirate LEGO! Quote
Evil Willy Posted February 2, 2006 Author Posted February 2, 2006 Mister phes by all means those are not my sails:D im in the lower quantities then that. Hey but you cant say it doesnt help! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 4, 2006 Governor Posted February 4, 2006 Evil William, I know that you didn't take pictures of those sails and put them on Brick Shelf. What I meant was you missed noticing that all the sails were there, and if you had more pirate sets then you it would be clearer in your mind which sails were missing. But aside from that... I was just kiddin! :-D Quote
Evil Willy Posted February 5, 2006 Author Posted February 5, 2006 Im a MOC'er, not a collector, so I just get hulls and bricks..U know :D But I do know all the sets in the pirates line... I just didnt pay atention, but the fact is if you use them for templates..Every different design is there. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 8, 2006 Governor Posted February 8, 2006 No, technically not Willy! For the Red Beard Runners sails have cannon ball holes in them which are a certain shape. So using another sail of the same size would not provide you with these holes and therefore you'd have a hard time replicating the Red Beard Runner sails without them. Quote
El Bucanero Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 The Irfan view thingy has a function to resize multiple photos at once, could someone explain to me how to use it? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 11, 2006 Governor Posted September 11, 2006 I shall prepare a tutorial with screen shots later, however here is a quick run down... Open IrfanView. In the pull down menus go to File ->Batch Conversion/Rename Drag Files from Explorer into the Input Files area in IrfanView OR you can find them using IrfanView. Tip. Hold down CTRL to select multiple files at once. In Batch Conversion Settings make JPEG the Output Format Click the Set advanced options Button (make sure the Use Advanced Options checkbox is ticked. Ensure RESIZE checkbox is ticked. Depending on the current image size you can: Set New SizeI.e. Set Width to 800 and Height to 600OR Set New size as a perfect of the originalI.e. Set Width to 25% and Height to 25% Checking Preserve aspect ratio is probably advisable. Make sure Use Resample Function is checked to prevent pixellation of your image. Click OK Click Start So there's the quick run down... Quote
El Bucanero Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 I did that but the stay the same size, THAT's strange... Quote
ghoulrealm Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Ok. let's say someone resized the images to print them. Why don't you upload the resized images to brckshelf to make it even easier for everyone else? I could figure something out but don't have a printer to test my efforts. Even so, I wanted a tattered sail pattern for my ghost ship, so I resized the image to mach up with an intact sail up against the computer screen and traced it onto paper. It wasn't perfect, but being a tattered design it didn't matter much. I was matching the holes diameter to get the right dimensions. My screen resolution was at 1024x768 Quote
