MattZitron Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Ok so I had an idea that we each nominate a NON Lego toy for the 2005 EB Non-Lego Toy Awards. This is how it works. You nominate a toy, and for it to get into the poll it needs to be seconded by another member. BUT if you second someone's toy idea, you can't suggest one of your own. My nomination is: Dr. Who Remote Controlled Dalek. He's 12 inches tall, and based on the colour scheme from the latest Dr.Who series. You control his movements and speech, and he has an automated head. When he talks his eyes light up, and he has big ole' wheels so he can go over wires on your floor!! I got him for Quote
KimT Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 NO FEAR - Viking Playmobil. Much as I love to hate this toy, I have to admit that the plastic is of high quality and the "playness" and imagination used makes it a super number 2 after LEGO. Link To PLAYMMOBIL Vikings KimT Quote
mutley777 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 now i am not sure it is really classed as a toy but for me it has to be the new force fx lightsabers. force fx there is a short video of one in action just under the main pics. :oD Quote

AND it has to be a toy that came out THIS YEAR. So 3D puzzles can't be nominated. Unless you choose an '05 specific one. Quote
tophdawg Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 i was unable to find a place where it told me what puzzles came out this year so im going to withdraw my nomination Quote
The Hordesman Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Playmobil- They still got realistic and semi-realistic designs like many many years ago. The only catches is that they change factions every 5th year or something, and the articulation which is less than that of a minifig. Believe it or not, but there actually exist AFOPs and a AFOP community. ;) Besides that there is the Kubrick's cube. *king2* Quote
gollum 66 Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I nominate the remote controled R4-P17. With the mini-lightsaber remote, R4-P17 will move forward or turn on command, rotate his dome as he rolls, beep and whistle, and illuminate his photoreceptor "eye". R4-P17 measures approximately 2.5" tall. :oD Remote Control R4-P17 *gg* gollum *gg* Quote
Zane Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 :D I was going to get that Dalek - my dad saw it in Tesco's for Quote
SuvieD Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Do board games count as toys? If so I nominate Twilight Imperium 3rd edition. If they don't count I nominate the Darth Vader voice changer helmet. Quote

SuvieD Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 SUVIE, that game counts as long as it was out this year. It was released late and ended up coming out in January of 2005. So by a fluke yes it was. I recommend the game to anyone into scifi, long table top strategy games or playing with little plastic ships that are used to battle everyone elses little ships. It is expensive though. I have played many games and I must say that when you get it though you are getting quality stuff and a lot of it. Quote
Zane Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 What day did you get the Dalek, Mr. Zitron? TT Quote
MattZitron Posted January 18, 2006 Author Posted January 18, 2006 What day did you get the Dalek, Mr. Zitron?TT I got him last Friday night. The next morning there were none left. THEN I went back yesterday and they were Quote
ApophisV Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 My nomination goes to.... Carcassonne - Die Stadt (German version) or click here for the english version! The original Carcassonne was greaz, but IMO this game is even more fun to play! It doesn't only consist of ground cards and wooden figures, but there are also walls and towers and a town gate which make the whole layout you build while playing look just fine! *satis* And it comes into a really nice wooden box which makes it looking even more exclusive! Sure a jewell in my Carcassonne collection ;) (I got the original Carcassonne two times, nine expansion sets for it and two other stand alone versions of the the game ("The City" and "New Land") Quote
Echo Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Halo Arbiter action figure. Totally awesome. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 I'd like to second ApophisV's nomination for Carcassonne: the City. A really great game. :oD Quote
MattZitron Posted January 18, 2006 Author Posted January 18, 2006 Right so far the only 2 things that qualify for the vote are: 1. Remote Controlled Dalek 2. Carcassonne: the City. Anymore ideas gang? Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 How about the Nintendo DS? Is that considered a toy? Also, I know US and JP release was in 2004 (but at the end of the year), but us Europeans didn't get it untill March 2005... Quote
Christian Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 if gaming consoles count as a toy, then Ill defintly nominate: the new Xbox 360 Quote

Zane Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Ooh....I would have voted from the DS if I knew it was considered a toy....ah well. TT Quote
