Gloria visits Sydney Harbour

I saw last night on the news that this ship was going to be in Sydney Harbour for the next week, and that people were going to be allowed on board to check it out. Anybody else see it, or anyone planning to go and see the ship? I would if i could find the time to go to Sydney but i doubt that i will be able to. And the Endeavour is also in Sidney isn't it? I'd rather go there if I had the chance, but that's on the far side of the world for me

the endeavour you're thinking of im pretty sure is the ship called the "Young Endeavour". Its a replica of James Cook's Endeavour (obviously), but i think it isnt to the exact size, it might be a bit smaller (someone correct me if im wrong.)

its tied into the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme which takes kids (not kids realy, teenagers more likely) and teaches them how to sail and about things like cooperation and stuff

I saw the Young Endeavour last year (well technically it was New Year's Eve so it could have been the year before) and I was rather disappointed. It's far more modernised than I was expecting, I thought it would have a vintage-appearing exterior and the modern equipment would be under the deck. Alas, that was not to be, the materials used for the exterior look far too recent for a replica ship.

The Young Endeavour was never meant to be a replica of Cook's.

I don't really see any similarities at all.

Anyhow, I'll be going for a voyage on the Young Endeavour next year or the year after. At $4,000 AUD, the trip carries a heavy price, but I think it will be a fantastic experience.
