Paul has pics of the New motorcycle up at his website and claims that they are available in the United States. I hope they have them all :sweet: I am hitting Toysrus first thing tomorrow morning.

Just found this on brickshelf

LOL!!!

"My wife wanted this set badly and I got REALLY Lucky as they were putting these on the shelf at Toys R Us as I was walking past. Today is our 3rd anniversary 7-14-2010 which makes this VERY Special."

I WISH my wife was into Lego :classic:

I called the local Toys"R"Us in my area and no such luck. I even called one in the next town.

Same here. I checked 3 TRU locations and my local LEGO store and no one has them yet.

Score. I just picked up the 8051 motorcycle and the 8052 Container Truck at my local TRU. They also had the 8063 Tractor with Trailer on clearance so I got one of those for parts. No sign of the 8043 or 8053 at any retail locations yet.

Hmm... waiting for a 8053 review...

Somebody out there must have gotten one?

Same here, I am really surprised one hasn't popped up yet. I have resisted buying one myself so far, but not sure how long that will last!

I e-mailed with the person who put the 8053 inventory on Bricklink and this is what he had to say about it.

In my opinion it is in some ways a little more simple than the 8421. It took me a little more than half a day to complete the build and make the inventory at the same time.

Ain't all lego fun to build?? :o)

I think at some time I will try to mix the 8421 and 8053 a little bit. For instance the pneumatic on the 8421 is a pain in the ..... and I will try to replace that with actuators.

Perhaps I will like the 8053 a little more when I get the powerfunctions added to it.

The functions as standard are steering on all wheels and controlled from the back of the crane like on the 8421 but the knob for it is smaller.

Also on the back are the knob for extending the support legs but every foot will have to be deployed individually.

The actual crane jib has 3 functions: raising/lowering the jib, raising/lowering the hook and extending the jib. All functions are controlled by one knob combined with 2 clutches and it takes a lot

Also there are some pics on Brickshelf of 8053:

I think the biggest problem I have with the model is the fact you have to turn the upperstructure with your hand just like 8421.

Because? Please explain!

I am guessing the complexity is simple, even more so than the Cherry Picker. Also, the B model is super lame :(

I just grabbed the Motorbike, will post up some pictures if there is demand :)

The 8052 Container Truck has appeared in the German Lego shop@home marked as available now.

added on 22.07.10:

Again there are some news for German Technic fans:

The online shop buch.de offers all 2H2010 sets with rather low prices (15€ off for the excavator!) and free shipping if you live in Germany (They say they also ship to western European countries, USA and Canada but of course this won't be free  )

They're all set as not available, I think they will get available in late august

You can view all 2H2010 sets here.

Any pics will do!

8052 8051 post as many as u want!

BTW: For me a model is lame if there are designflaws in it, doesn't work well, or has no "look". For now i'll wait with further comments until my own copy arrives!

Very true, you really need to turn the upper structure ALOT to extend and raise the boom, hence the option to power function it.

I have posted a review of it on our local forum. As I have never owned or built the 8421 Mobile Crane I would say this set is great and have alot of functions! I never knew it had a gearbox until I actually built it myself as there weren't any pictures how any of the functions work.

A picture of the gearbox inside the upper structure of the crane. Using the red levers on you can engage either the linear actuator (center), extend the boom (top) or extend or retract the rope.

Thank you for an excellent review, I really enjoyed reading and looking at the photos you took. I too am surprised at the level of complexity here; I was turned off a little by its size and lack of engine/diff etc but it looks like its a great model. I will have to get Power Function for it at the same time. Tell me, does the official Power Function instructions give power to raising and zooming the boom AND winch opertation?

Thanks for the compliment. :classic:

There is an instructions in book 3 of the mobile crane set which show how to add in the battery box, M motor, a clutch gear, an 8 tooth gear, a 24 tooth gear and a technic axle 5 to connect power to gearbox. You can raise and extend the boom at the same time. Those extra motors and axles all come from the power function set.

Below is a page from the instructions on how to operate the levers on the upper portion of the crane.

I'm planning to cannibalize.. I mean borrow parts from my other sets since I have already have alot of power functions parts.

What really amazes me a lot is that the function to extend the boom can not be linked to lowering the hook. That would have been easily possible. That way the hook would lower once you have moved the driving ring to extend the boom. In the current design you have to turn two knobs

Seems to me like it can be done simontainous looking at these pictures:

Excellent review there paanjang16, I had my eye on that set because of it's unusual B-Model, however the main model looks superb as well. I also did not have 8421 when the model was announced, I however managed to get one by chance recently. In any case I think I'll be getting this one as well :)

Yesterday i got the first of 2 copies of the 8051.

Built the a-model immediately.

8051smallcollage.jpg

Great built! (It's an easy one but no less fun!)

Great looks!(Highly "Swooshable"! and full of greebles and other trinkets.)

The new rims are great, but i would have liked it if the rear wheel had a slightly wider tyre. (like the one in 8420)

A fun detail is the Easter Egg on the speedometer.

Can't wait for te second copy to arrive and have a go with the b-model!

Got 8043 couple of days ago.

Parts - really good set. But as model, it sucks. Why? M Motors doesnt have enough power to raise excavator arm, or drive smoothly whole excavator. Visual - model is awesome (ofc without stickers, stickers sucks ! :P)
