Zarkan Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Edit: Oh boy, It happened. My pictures stretched the screen. Um, could somebody trim these for me, I don't know how to myself. Well, I recently picked up a 7704 Sonic Phantom, and since there’s only one review on Eurobricks so far, I thought I’d make this my first review. Hope you find it useful! The Box: As someone on another site once quoted, the box often is the factor that decides whether someone will buy a kit or not. Okay, so that’s not even close to the original statement, but you get the idea. Front of the box: Notice the cell shading technique they used. Pretty cool, but at the same time, it makes it harder to see what the model actually looks like. Back of the box: Shows all the stuff on the other boxes. Nothing special, but still good. Final rating: 7/10 The Minifigure Good, since it’s not as common as the brown one. That torso is cool! Final Rating: 9/10 The Pieces: Some of the highlights are the good selection of curved slopes, and those cool lime green round bricks. Here we see the all important turbines. They actually use lego’s new two color swirl molding technique. Looks okay, but I would have liked a solid colored turbine better. And here’s the light-up brick included. Hard to see in this picture, but oh well. Another thing about this set: about a third of the pieces included are Technic, mainly axels and pins. Final rating: 8/10 The Model: Here’s an overal shot of the model. Looks good from here. A shot of the body. Standard, no more, no less. A shot of the tail. I’m wondering what that rotor is doing back their. Plain The engines. These are much more cool. The rotors are not attached, so you can spin all of them. Side shot of the engines. They look great from the outside, but they are very empty inside. The missile launcher. Well designed, I love launching it at my Gate Assault gate! BUT, the light up brick is not attached, it just lays there. Not good when you’re trying loop-the-loops! The other engine, and the small wing it hangs off of. Pretty plain, the guns are good though. The beam thingy hanging out the back of the model. May seem weird, but when you’re trying to swoosh it through the air, it’s a lifesaver! (I mean, you’re supposed to hold that when flying it around) Nice feature. The underside. Standard. Nothing else to say. Body: 7/10 Tail: 7/10 Engines: 8/10 Missile launcher: 8/10 Underside: 7/10 Final Rating: 7.4/10 Playability and Swoosh Factor: This kit is really fun to swoosh around the house, and launching the missile is fun too. It’s made mainly for playability, and it serves that purpose well. Playbility: 8/10 Swoosh factor: 9/10 Overall Rating: 8/10 The kit is pretty good overal, but a few things could be inproved. But, I belive I got my money's worth, and am ready for the rest of Exo-Force! So, what do you think? Quote
ApophisV Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 So, what do you think? Hm, it would look more "professional" if you would size down your images to make this whole review viewable! :P 1024 x 768 or even 800 x 600 should work great to see both the details and the whole thing at the same time! sam89 Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Agreed, the photos DEFINITELY need to be made smaller! Quote
Khorne Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 I've resized them and I'm currently uploading them on MAJ. *EDIT* Here's the url to the maj folder with the resized pics. When it's modded, the admins might edit Grevious' post with the resized pics. ;) Quote
