Pirates is one of my fav lego themes and I have maybe 10 sets. I was looking on the classic pirate set list and I am sure they are not all of the pirate sets? Am I mad? I got a little raft set and a few small ones that are not on there, at work at the mo but I will double check when I get home

Fear not! There are over 60 different Pirate sets, however we haven't got around to adding them all to Classic-Pirates.com yet.

They will be added in due time, but it all depends on the number of volunteers available to us.

Ok, i heard about the site on a pod cast and thought i check it out. I look through my collection and you never know I might be able to help

Well drop me a pm if you want of what you need, e.g me finding sets that are not included then pictures or is it just the site runs off a cms and is easy to edit and update.

I just picked up 23 exoforce models which i need to sort tonight so it maybe a day or 2 to find the pirate collection.

Yes, we have a Content Management System but it appears the latest version has bugs, so we'll have to downgrade as soon as I get my broadband connection back.

But we are spefically looking for longterm contributors as it's difficult to build a strong team when somebody volunteers for a week or two then vanishes.

Well i been back in to lego for 5 years, not done many moc but built probably 400 models and probably have one of the largest uk collections

So unless the house burns down, i think i be in to lego for a while

In that case, you could be a fantastic asset to the Classic-Pirates.com team! And for your information, Classic-Pirates.com uses WordPress as our blog Content Management System. Are you familiar with XHTML?

As far as the set pages are concerned, :pir_laugh2:Erdbeereis and myself are working on them as fast as we can, but we can only go so fast. We also have other jobs to do such as maintaining the frontpage and training new recruits, then (as an afterthought :pir_laugh2: ) we have our lives to take into consideration.

So we could sure use your help to take some of the strain off. Would you be really dedicated to Classic-Pirates.com and be willing to make a regular contribution (every 2 days if possible)? Also, if you have any examples of your work, please throw me a portfolio to news-coordinator@classic-pirates.com :pir-classic:

Sorry, I worded it badly, I meant send me a profile by email as I assumed that if you do it as a hobby you would only be able to email a folder of files rather than have stuff uploaded to a server. But no matter, we can discuss your skills here.

For the benefit of Mister Phes:

Wordpress, xhtml css, jquery etc etc i know well enough

I also don't work as a it manager but a head of a software arm for compsoft. people understand it manager better

I would need a guide on dos and donts, but i am worried about the every 2 day update, was more thinking every week. as there is more than just me and thinking dont want to spam people with crap just for an update

depends on what you want.

as for me work i am more in to mindstorms mocs, like is it possible to move a man with Lego etc. HOWEVER i love pirate ships to, my pride of my collection is my 5 pirate ships, 1 viking and 1 castle ship. I do want to start building big ships so i don't know if that counts. I also want to own all of the old pirate range lol

As i said, here to help, if i don't meet the grade then hey we have lost nothing

Warning, don't expect really advance English on posts, i am not great at spelling so use word to check everything. just warning you

SEO and Web Design

If you aren't great in the English language, this could be a fantastic opportunity for you to get better and learn more things. You sound like you have a good knowledge of the web and the code you would need, the job description is pretty much creating posts for the frontpage, as that's what we currently need, correct Mister Phes?

Every 2 days was just a rough estimate. As a regular contribution, you would be creating posts for our backlog and eventually our frontpage. And we sure as hell don't spam anyone. We strongly respect people's privacy, and would never spam anyone. We update our frontpage, which is purely an optional visits for our members and guests. But rest assured that Classic-Pirates.com certainly doesn't spam anyone.

Sorry I did not mean spam by emailing people, i mean like non eventful updates to the front page. However sorry for the misunderstanding

So has anyone done a image dump or just a set of images listing all of the offical pirate minifigures?

Probably could create one via bricklink

Classic-Pirates.com will also have an index in due time :pir-wink:

Or maybe, it already has one! :pir-sweet:Linky. Or a start of one anyway.

Thanks for that link Sly, it is giving me some good ideas for the final Classic-Pirates.com version.

What we need most is somebody who can keep an eye on the forums and other websites each day to find new things to frontpage on Classic-Pirates.com. So in otherwords more News Scouts.

However, it seems Burf is a lot more skillful than that and in the beginning it's best to allocate tasks which reflect somebody's skill. But until I sort out the issues with the Visual Editor it's probably best we don't put anybody new on. Since I don't get ADSL back until Wednesday (presuming the ISP does their job) I won't be able to do anything this time next week,
