Basiliscus Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Hi guys! This was built for a recent Scotfest meeting, where the theme was "Scotland". This year is Scotland's "Homecoming" year, celebrating the history of Scotland. So I decided to build a statue which is close to my heart (being 600 yards from my house! LoL), the Statue of King Robert the Bruce, Lord of Galloway and vanquisher of the English at Bannockburn on June 24th 1314. Your viewing time is appeciated. Quote
BlueBard Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Great! You did a pretty nice job with the statue and the visitors with the scot guide is a good touch Quote
74louloute Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I agree your statue is very well build ! The staging is also very good ! I like the tourists listening to the guide ! A very well done MOC! Quote

I agree, the tourist make the MOC come alive. Great job on the statue. Are you planning to put it in a layout? Quote
Basiliscus Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 Great! You did a pretty nice job with the statue and the visitors with the scot guide is a good touch Thanks BlueBard! There are two Scots in the MOC, can you guess which two? I agree your statue is very well build !The staging is also very good ! I like the tourists listening to the guide ! A very well done MOC! Thanks 74louloute! The tourists are a group of Japanese (just to give them different faces so they'd be obvious as tourists). I agree, the tourist make the MOC come alive. Great job on the statue. Are you planning to put it in a layout? Yes, this will probably feature in a layout. It was built for a Scotfest meeting where the theme was "Scotland" (it's the "Homecoming" year here, where Scotland is celebrating it's history and culture). There are a few train events coming up in August and September and I think it will make an appearance at them! Quote
fenrir Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I've been to Scotland a month ago. (Holiday) It's one of the most beautifull countries I've ever seen. So it's nice to see a LEGO creation with this theme. Anyway it's a great MOC! Quote
gondortoast Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 scotland ftw i like it very realistic, what i would say is maybe if you treid a different coloured ground different shades of grey for instance because for me the bright white is a tad overpowering. other than that its a very nice moc Quote
LegoLyons Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Nice. Love the horse part of the statue. Good stuff. Quote
Eilif Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Great job. Nice to add a bit of history to your LEGO layout. Very well executed. I would agree that the all-white for ground and base is a bit overpowering. If you didn't want to alternate colors, a single line of grey plate where the base meets the ground would make a nice visual separation, and it wouldn't require modifications that would change the historical accuracy.
