Starwars4J Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Yes, two reviews in one day! You poor, poor people ;) Anyway, I'll review the $9.99 V-Wing, a set that's gotten a mixed bag of reactions so far. I'd have to say, it's a bit of a disappointment >-| So, on with the review! Here's a picture of the tiny fighter from the front. I had to fold the bottom wings to let it sit down, since they don't TURN |-/ As you can see, it's piloted by a standard clone pilot. Anyone found a use for them yet? Here's a picture of the bottom, including the "landing gear". Even though it's a cheap set, you'd think that they could spring for retractable landing gear, like in Anakin's Jedi fighter... Engines from the back. You can see the way the NON-ROTATING wings connect to the body of the ship, and the folded bottom wings: The two blasters on the wings: The NICE red R2 unit...unfortunately there's just the "head' (even though it's just the "head", it's probably the highlight of the set) Finally, the fighter with all wings fully extended: Rating: Pieces: 9/10 Minifigures: 3/10 Playability: 7/10 Originality: 5/10 Set Design: 6/10 Overall: 6/10 Really, the ship is only good for getting lots of bley wing pieces, fast. There are some dark red elements as well, which are pretty nice, and of course that R2 head *wub* The pieces aren't even that useful (to me at least), but I'm sure to some people out there it comes packed with lots of valuable pieces. baron Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 the fact that the wings don't turn is very dissapointing...you think they would make room for something like that. It's like leaving the x-wing with non movable s-foils. In fact, they could have just used the pieces that make up the cannons on Jango's slave 1, those would have been great. Anyway,Good honest review. Quote
xwingyoda Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Starwars4J, Tks for the nice review !! It looks a little better than I thought and the astromech head is just... adorable *wub* Cant wait to get it ;) EDIT: both reviews pinned !!! Quote
Vader Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 It looks like a fun ship to me, i love the new r2 units head though it is a shame that he dosent come with a body though. This is one ship that i hope to get a few of, thanks for the reviews SW4J :) Quote
snefroe Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 great review! :oD the ship doesn't really look spectacular to me. It seems to me they wanted to make some money fast, the cheap way... can you give us a pic of the cockpit and an over all shot from above? Quote
xwingyoda Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 What would Sne do without cokpit pics !!! :D :P Quote

mutley777 Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 great review! and great pics! :-D thanks. Quote
Deinonychus Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Well nuts, I was really looking forward to this set and from the pics it looks pretty skimpy :( But, at that price point it's a good "squadron builder" set, and I can never have too many of those "Republic Red" bricks Quote
xwingyoda Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 i'm glad the wings dont rotate why is that ??? It would be a lot more movie accurate ;) Quote
prateek Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 i'm glad the wings dont rotate why is that ??? It would be a lot more movie accurate ;) 1 word, stability Quote
sam89 Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 True, if the wings could rotate, they'd be doing it all the time ;) Quote
LoRd AmUnRa Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 soory , for my this is a joke ! |-D it s made by a 8years old child or what ?? Quote
Beagle Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Yes, from what we've seen this definitely seems to be the weakest of the news SW sets. Ah well, if one had to be weak, I'm glad it's the prequel ship. At least it's cheap. :/ Thanks for the great review, though! :-D Quote
Vader Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I really dont see this set as being weak, in fact i think its alot better than alot of ships that weve had over the years. For the price i think that its a great little ship and one that will no doubt do well in sales for lego. As for the wings well im sure theres ways around the whole turning issue and i expect someone to come up with a way for them to rotate without doing it all the time. Quote
xwingyoda Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I totally agree with you Vader !!!! For the price, itsd a great little ship !!!!!!! I think its way better than I thought from the pic of the box !! The only bad point is the lack of the Astromech body like in all ep and ep 3 JSFs !!!! Quote
Vader Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Yeah thats one thing that i do wish was included in the set, with any luck lego will give us a body for this little fella soon. Quote

LoRd AmUnRa Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 The only bad point is the lack of the Astromech body like in all ep and ep 3 JSFs !!!! in the jsf2 and in the V-wing, it isn t a R2 units it a R4 units alle the R4 units have just the head So there is no error just ine the JSF3 Quote
