Just wondering if people around prefer to use 2 x X bricks for thicker walls, 1 x X for more versatility, a combination of the two, or if they sometimes use one kind for one type of MOC, and the other for a different kind.

Personally, I like building primarily with 1 x X, but use 2 x X for certain features

1x's are superior to 2x's for building castle structures. Yet, 2x parts needed for stability and to hold parts togeter that would fall apart if only using 1x's.

I would say 80% 1x, 20% 2x in most castle mocs.

I'm just wondering why this is called "What type of Grey bricks do YOU prefer?", because Castle MOC also use black bricks too and therefore there is no useful reason to specify colour.

Next the poll question "Which type of brick do you find most useful for building castle MOCs?" - why does it have to be a Castle MOC? Imperial Forts MOC builders are faced with the same choices as grey Castle MOC builders, except the Imperial Forts use white and yellow bricks instead.

The reason I ask is, if the bolded words were removed this poll could appeal to a wider audience. (Namely me of course)

PS. Captain Starwars4J, your fleet of 4+ Pirate ships is going to be sunk in the The Great War Thread if you don't give them orders to take evasive action! *pirate5*

Well, I asked because I'm currently making a castle MOC from old grey, and was curious about how other people use their bricks. Of course the color IS rather arbitrary, but if you'd like to change the wording by removing "Grey" and "castle" from my poll, feel free to!

Actually, I'm just wondering what to do with all the old grey I stole right out from under you *twisted*

I use old grey only *knight*

Of course! Bley is useless for building castle MOCs, it looks far too metallic to be stone. It might work well with space MOCs though...something I need to look into as my...*sigh* supply of bley grows

In that case then it makes sense! But the confusion could have been avoided if you had said that in the thread's first post.

You best report something like that in the Great War Thread, I can't really respond in this thread otherwise that would take it off topic!

mm, well I actually use yellow and white for my castle stuff, I don't have any images, but I do have this one little pic of a dragon that I took recently, but you can still see the walls behind it:

As ypu can see, I've actually gone 1xX, and then i added a 3xX thing at the top (which is actually 1xX at the far side, then 2xX in front of them) but it still looks alright in my opinion.

Anyway, I actually prefer 1xX bricks, cause then you can add arches and pillars and cool things like balconies and such, without having to go to too much trouble. But if you use 2xX, you can still do the same, but it just takes up twice the amout of space. But its good if you want it really stable and sturdy, and if you have heaps of baseplates of course ;)

I rarely use 2 x X bricks to make wider castle walls. Not because I don't like thick castle walls, but because I can achieve the same results with 1 x X bricks. Simply put, I don't have enough reason to amass a large volume of 2 x X bricks when I can achieve essentially the same results with 1 x X bricks. And yes, I only use old Grey for my castles. So much so, that I haven't bought a new set for parting out since the introduction of new grey.

BRICKLINK FOREVER *knight* !!
