WesternOutlaw Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Since the Wild West theme only ran for a couple of years, and the number of sets were rather limited, I thought I would start a list of other sets that can be added or used for the Wild West theme (some I have and others not). Feel free to add yours. - Wild West Scene 365: one of Lego's earliest Wild West sets complete with a number of small western buildings and a cardboard baseplate. PIC - Classic Train 3225: a classic little train with a small engine that makes a good mining train. Set also includes a tipper, coach, and gondola. The gondola is good for transporting Army cargo. The coach makes a good car to create a train robbery (roof that lifts off and open door frames on both end). PIC - Graveyard Duel 4766: a great set for adding a graveyard to your Wild West town. This set also includes a spooky tree for a good hanging, and a number of graves to build a Boot Hill graveyard. Also included is a fence to put around your western church, and a good wagon that you can use for anything. PIC - Johny Thunder and Baby T 5903: swap the wheels with some wagon wheels, and you've got a great prospector. PIC - Mike's Swamp Boat 5912: great western fig. PIC - River Expedition 5976: a good steam ship if you build an ocean-side western town. This set also includes Senor Palomar (white suited fig with white cowboy hat), and a ship captain that makes a good WW fig. PIC - Outback Airstrip 6444: a great little set on a tan baseplate. This set includes a great western-style windmill, and a nice building with a green latticed window(pirate-style). The building also has two shingled roof pieces (great for western roofs). PIC - Amazon Crossing 6490: nix the 4-wheeler and croc, and you've got a good bridge that passes a small stream. A skull and some bones litter the ground. PIC - Rocky River Retreat 6552: a great hideout for bandits set in the mountains near a river. This set includes a cowgirl, horse, a neat little cabin, and some rocky mountains with trees. PIC - Extreme Team Challenge 6584: nix the vehicles and tent, and you've got a great mountain, river/mountain baseplate, and wood bridge. PIC - Guarded Inn 10000: add some U.S. Army flags to this set and you've got a great outpost for your Union troops. Sure, it may look a little "Dark Ages", but not too bad. PIC - Large Train Engine with Tender 10205: a must for a good western train layout. In fact, one also needs a few green passenger cars and the red MOT caboose to go with this. PIC Yee Haw! ;) Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I have exacly two western sets, but I always like topic like this. I like the one about pirate sets too... Can anyone do one on SW? :P Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 Maybe someone will, but it won't be me. I've got a pretty good collection of SW sets, but I'm not in to it like Wild West and Trains. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 27, 2005 Governor Posted November 27, 2005 1970 Pirates Gun Cart This idea was used in a couple of Wild West sets, but it had origins within the Pirate theme... Quote
snefroe Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 well i guess you'd be able to use the balloon (7415) also... if I'm not mistaken, the army used these kinds of balloons for recon missions in the Civil War... Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 1970 does remind me of 6790: I think I do recall an old western with a balloon. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 28, 2005 Governor Posted November 28, 2005 I thought there was a larger Western set with one of these gun carts in it, but I can't find which one it is. Maybe I dreampt it up! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 28, 2005 Governor Posted November 28, 2005 And then there's set 210 Cowboys which probably isn't useful for much, but here it is anyway... Quote

WesternOutlaw Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 Strangely enough, I've got it set up in my Fort Legoredo. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 28, 2005 Governor Posted November 28, 2005 That must be where I saw it... In the Legorado Fortress review! I must have thought it was part of the set. I went back to BrickSet to look at a picture of Legorado Fortress and it wasn't pictured anywhere so I thought maybe I dreampt it up. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 I did not include it in the review though. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 28, 2005 Governor Posted November 28, 2005 Then where did I see it? It must have been in one of your reviews... Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 I don't think so, but I did picture it in the image with all the Army figs, but that's it (you can barely see it in the image). Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 28, 2005 Governor Posted November 28, 2005 I must have dreampt it then... Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted November 29, 2005 Author Posted November 29, 2005 Maybe. Any more non-western sets that you know of? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 29, 2005 Governor Posted November 29, 2005 Yeah, hundreds of non Western sets I know of - but they're just not useful to Western MOCs :D Ok, I'll think... There's probably another pirate set that could be used... Pondering time! Quote

PIC you know i think that the little building with the harry potter train station for book 3. the Figs aren't to good bu the train is ok. The little building with it is the best part. It can be used as an post office, train staion {of course thats what its supposed to be}, maybe even a Union army outpost. - Mike's Swamp Boat 5912: great western fig. It could be a good post office, train staion {duh}, or union army outpost e.t.c. I'm not sure about this one. I have the set, but just think it looks too Medieval to be a WW building. does anybody think the gate house and gate in the new motorcycle chase indiana jones set would be a good wild west gate on like te american-mexican border what does anybody think Interesting. I had not thought about this one. I'm not sure about the gate arm though. May be a bit too modern. Quote
Batbrick Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Well, while this is revived, I might as well give my two cents. I think that the Viking Fortress, while not at al convincing as a wild west set, came with plenty of excellent parts for making one. A Frown Legoredo X-D Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote

AgentRick Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 If you modify it heavily, replace the Figs, and make it look a bit more westernish ( Add a cactus, a few signs, wood planks), the Dwarf's Mine could be used as a Goldmine. Quote
