Tom Bricks Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I was thinking last night about witch minifig best represents each theme. The captain can represent the entire pirate line while any color of the classic space man can represent the space theme but what sums up the Castle line? This is harder than other themes because of the different fractions but there needs to be one common fig that best represents the line, I just don't know what it is. What do you people think? Quote
Talon Karrde Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I would say a King. That fits with the Pirate one. Quote
Spyder Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Probably the king would work best. The rest are obvious: Indy-Indy, Chase-Agents, Vader-Star Wars, etc. Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I'd say a knight. I always picture the one with the pointy helment and noes guard that flares out at the bottom with the chest crest is black and blue or red and blue. Quote
Ratshot Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 (edited) I would say a King. I agree. I would say that King Leo represents the castle line. Edited May 26, 2009 by Broadside Quote

Lt. Col. Thok Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 A regular soldier like LEGO uses on S@H: It's simple and easy to understand. I agree; however, maybe not with that face - maybe with the original scared face. Quote
Kothlis Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Hmm... that's a good question. I think it's safe to say that the princess fig was a pretty big icon for the '07 Castle Line. Honestly, I'd honestly say that the original Caslte soldier fig from the yellow castle set pretty much sums up the entire line. Quote
SlyOwl Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 The Royal Knights King. He represents classic castle, before it went awry with Fright Knights and Knights Kingdom, has rare parts (the cape and plume), like many classic figures, and is aesthetically pleasing and instantly recognisable. Quote
Tom Bricks Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 Interestingly enough no one has mentioned the castle fig that is on the banner. Quote

Spyder Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Interestingly enough no one has mentioned the castle fig that is on the banner. What? There's only a princess, a dwarf, a troll, and some vikings on the banner. You mean the black falcon fig? Quote
Tom Bricks Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 Yes the black falcon, I figured no one would chooses any of the newer fractions to represent such an old line. Quote
BlueBard Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 It really depends on each person as Castle is one of the oldest Lego lines, but for me it would be any of the dragon knights Quote
ProducePrincess Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Well if it's castle in general then opne of the original knights from the classic yellow castle comes to mind. If it's the new castle theme then i would say it is definately the king minifig. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Hmm, I think this one: What? It apears in almost every castle line Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 That's a great and very interesting topic, Tom Bricks! It's indeed very hard to say since there have been such many fractions until now. But I wouldn't say that a king could represent this theme since the first king minifugure firstly appeared in 1995. Since the Black Falcons are a fraction which you always think about when talking about older Castle sets I'd think that for me it would be a common Black Falcon soldier (not knight!). Jameseh Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 The knight, I imagine children class its 'power' like its god. Quote
Rijkvv Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 (edited) I agree with Klaus-Dieter about the king. He arrived too late. And I don't think of kings if I think of the middle ages. Most of the territories were ruled by counts, dukes, (robber) barons, bisshops... For me, when I think of Castle, I think of (mounted) knights with the helmet and seperate visor, in the Crusader sets. Edited May 27, 2009 by Richie Quote
Skipper 24 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 (edited) The knight, I imagine children class its 'power' like its god. I think him^^ or the new King minifigure. Not to sure about that god thing though . Not in our modern times anyway . Edited May 27, 2009 by Skipper 24 Quote
Razzer Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 For the newer castle line I would definately agree with Tinn-man and the others that have said the newest knight, although for the entirety of the castle line I'd say that the most iconic figure for me would be a classic Black Falcon grunt. Quote
blueandwhite Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 The Castle line is more akin to the town theme where there is no single figure that truly represents the line. Classic space is a bit different simply because there was only one figure available (in 5 colours mind you) making it easy to pick a representative for that line. The Pirates theme with its strong emphasis on the captain figure made him an easy choice as the line's mascot. In many ways, the pirate captain is not unlike Harry Potter; a figure who showed up in countless sets when you really didn't need that many. The castle line with its wide range of factions and figures never really had a designated hero. Ironically, while most AFOLs seem to gravitate towards the Black Falcons the original Lion Knights seem to be the faction that LEGO favoured back in the mid-80s with the larger castles and greater variety of torsos. In the late 80s the Black Knights and the Forestmen came onto the scene. After that we had DM, Royal Knights, Fright Knights, KKI, KKII, and now the new Castle line. Picking a figure to represent the castle line simply doesn't make sense. Quote
