ACCURATEin Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 So this past weekend my friend was in town. Before he came down to visit, I had told him there were a couple Lego sets that he could build if he wanted to. When he arrived, he was in shock at what he saw. The weekend was going to be fun in the sun, but mother nature brought the wrath and it rained throughout the duration of the weekend. So Lego City received a new makeover instead! I plopped the two Lego sets in front of him, and he just smiled. haha. I said, 'do work'!! So he went to work on one of them and was surprised at the type of pieces Lego offered these days. He commented on how the pieces are much more complex than when he was a child. The set I had him working on was the newly released orange tow truck. I made a comment that he should convert the truck into a rollback/ flatbed because Lego has never offered a kit as such. So he went to town with it and with a little guidance he came up with a superbly working flatbed !! His creation amazed me! He became so infatuated with Lego that he spent a grand total of 11 hours on that day in Lego City. I fell asleep watching him build his last MOC, which happened to be the tallest structure in the town now! haha. He also made an addition to the tan creator house and did a number of other things. My girlfriend became the Lego City horticulturalist, and added life to the city with the addition of a small park. Enjoy the pics!! Quote
marvinblue Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Great looking City! Very impressive! I like the fact you've mainly used sets that are avaliable now (that I can see in the pics!), not adding on to an old Town. I also like your mods, the BBQ deck and the flatbed truck. Nice! Keep up the great work! Quote
brickfreak99 Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Very cool. Can you show the tall structure in detail? Quote
legofan Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 WOW! Fantastic looking city! Thanks for sharing! Very nice! I like the MOC of the new tow truck into a flatbed car carrier! Fits in perfectly with the SUV as normally, more expensive cars are transported in flatbeds i think. ~ Oh, the poor pizza guy probably didnt make it... I cant believe he'll survive if a SUV of that size ram into his mirco van... The overall view of your city is truely fantastic! I'm loving the overhead passenger train best of all! Can't believe the tracks actually hold up the weight of the train!! DO u have any problems with the tracks collapsing at all, esp when the train moves? Cause i also have the train and it feels pretty heavy to me... Your City's structres are smashing! Almost all of the creator houses and the exclusives Modular houses are in there, not to mention MOC of your house with that cute little garden on top~~ Sweet ~~ Thanks for sharing again! Wonderful city! If only mine was 20% like yours.... Quote

BlueBard Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Wow, impressive city! I hope mine would be as big as yours some day Quote

Keep up the great work! Thank you! The newer sets definitely look out of place when paired with the older sets. I made this discovery after looking through my stack of instruction booklets and decided not to build most of them, but to use the pieces to make other things instead. I'll tell my friend you like his work! Very cool. Can you show the tall structure in detail? I didn't get a closeup of the tall light blue structure. Mainly because it's incomplete, but i'm sure in time i'll have some pictures of it. WOW! Fantastic looking city! Thanks for sharing! Very nice! Wonderful city! If only mine was 20% like yours.... Thank you! The flatbed turned out really well. I was impressed with my friends first attempt at creating something. The pizza delivery guy is still on the scene, as there is no hospital in the town!! But my girlfriend and I will be constructing one here within the hour, so hopefully he'll be able to make it and be transferred to the emergency room. The elevated train was something i always wanted to do. This allows the vehicles to travel through the city without worrying about train crossings. The support pillars had to be strategically placed so that the track doesn't collapse. Ultimately I want to build a support system that has only one large pillar instead of two. Thanks for the comments! Hopefully i'll have more creations for you to see in the near future. Ideas randomly pop up in my head so there is no telling what might be built haha! LEGO did make a flat bed transporter, sets 2140 and 1590.2140 is a wonderful set. Oh nice! I did not know that. I googled those sets and it looks like there were never offered in the US. Thanks for sharing that information. Wow, impressive city! I hope mine would be as big as yours some day Thank you! haha i thought my city was one of the smaller ones. I need more square footage!!
