How to make a Dome or Sphere shape

Hi

Is there any instructions or ppl that can advise me ? On how to make a Dome shape or a sphere shape using lego bricks. I thoguth of making one for my train station.

I found this one, for instance.

To me, a good way it to use lots of plates and make it 'revolve' as you build up. Basically for instance, take a 8x8, put plates on it so its like a 7x7 over it. Do get what I'm saying?
