Dr. Steve Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Here are some pics of the 4 different colors of U-clips and how they look with a few different weapons I really like the Damien Blade I also got from brickarms. I only got one in Dark Gray and I am going to order one in gunmetal and one in silver to see which one looks the best as a bayonet. 1. Gunmetal 2. Black 3. Silver 4. Dark Gray Dark Gray Clip and Damien Blade (I had to cut the hand protector off of one side to make it fit) Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I think the Damien Blade is too big, the blade is almost bigger than the gun. I think the best choice is the gunmetal or the silver clip with a normal blade. Maybe you should also cut off the handprotector of this blade because it's pointed a little bit downwards now, but that's not neccesary (and maybe you can also fix the problem by shifting the clip a bit backwards, if you know what I mean. That's my opinion, you decide what you're going to do with it good luck! Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I like the Damien blade a lot, looks very mean and nasty! Didn't realize the clips were so thick though, i thought they were thinner. Thanks for the pics! Quote

I agree that the hand protector on the knife needs to be cut as well (I used scissors on the Damien blade, but I need to use and Exacto Knife to fut the smaller one). Quote

Maybe you can try it with a 'wire cutter' (does that mean anything to you? ) there are very small versions of them. Quote
woody64 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Neverless the u-clip is a very cool item. Woody64 Quote
the enigma that is badger Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Glad you like the U-Clip and Damien Blades! The Damien Blade is a fantastic work, and the U-Clip really is a handy little piece. Will actually has some neat plans about other accessories that could use it! As for the Damien Blade, I'd agree that the blade unmodified is a perhaps a bit too long relative to the rifle, but it is a neat, savage look having such a long blade at the end of a weapon. I do agree that trimming the hand guard off the other end would probably make the piece look a bit polished. Of course, if you're willing to wait a little bit, BrickArms does have a new item in the pipeline I think you'll enjoy! Didn't realize the clips were so thick though, i thought they were thinner. The prototype version (as seen above) was a bit thinner, but to ensure a solid connection and a sturdy piece, Will made it a bit thicker for the production version. It real life, it's really not that thick (about the same width as a minifig hand), but macrophotography tends to make it appear larger than it really is. Quote

Scouty Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Bayonets are more often on the right side of the musket, than under it. Most muskets I've seen and the one I have (though it's American Civil War) is on the side. Anyway, I think it looks great. Really looks like the sword type bayonets! Quote
Zorro Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Looks very good. Most usable elements for us armybuilders. Of course, if you're willing to wait a little bit, BrickArms does have a new item in the pipeline I think you'll enjoy! I await this pipelined item with great impatience ! Quote

Captain Blackmoor Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Dr. Steve, could you please post a picture with an Imperial soldier with a musket and U-clip, but with a common LEGO cutlass as bayonet? I think the cutlass is slightly shorter then the damien blade. The upcoming bayonet from Brickarms looks great but I just want to know how a common cutlass looks like. I've tried it with a hook like Martin did but I've never seen it with U-clips. Thanks in advance! Quote

tedbeard Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I think the Damien blade (or cutlass) make a great sword-bayonet for the Riflemen under Richard Sharpe. Quote

Captain Blackmoor Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Thanks! I think only the musket needs an update. Now it's more a blunderbuss instead of a tight musket. I am really thinking about buying these U-clips. They aren't only handy for bayonets but also for a lot of other things. Quote

Abaddon127 Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 I agree that the musket and pistol need a new version without the bunderbuss muzzle. I hope that TLC helps us out. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Who knows what can happen in the future... Perhaps BrickForge or BrickArms have their secret projects too... But I really think there should exist LEGO muskets too instead of only blunderbusses. Quote
the enigma that is badger Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 But I really think there should exist LEGO muskets too instead of only blunderbusses. I certainly agree that minifig compatible muskets and flintlock pistols would be great to have on the market! Quote
Dr. Steve Posted May 29, 2009 Author Posted May 29, 2009 Of course, if you're willing to wait a little bit, BrickArms does have a new item in the pipeline I think you'll enjoy! I was wondering about that "new Item" in the pipeline. Would it need a u clip to attach to the rifle or would that be a part of it? Also do you have an idea of approx when we might see that new item? THANKS Quote

Would it need a u clip to attach to the rifle or would that be a part of it?Also do you have an idea of approx when we might see that new item? Take a look at the above pictures! It's the BrickArms Bayonet, which can be attached to any minifig-grippable surface via the BrickArms U-Clip! The base of the Bayonet can also fit into the standard LEGO port that fits anything minifig-grippable. Quote

Sir Wellington Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Is the brickarms bayonett still for sale? Since I searched for it on the internet and I couldn't find it. Quote
