michaelozzie Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 (edited) These are some of the custom French infantry ive been making. You can find more on my mocpages site I wanted to make a few of the men in greatcoats and winter campaign uniform. Visit My Website Edited April 25, 2009 by michaelozzie Quote
Darth Legolas Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 This may belong in the Minifig Customization workshop, but anyway, these are looking nice! I love the long overcoats, which I have seen before, though the hats seems very original! Also, the new details on the TLG hats came out well! Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Very nice! They look really good, especially the helm from the left guy in the first picture. But I didn't know the French had dwarf units in their army, I see a guy with a large axe and a large beard... Good work! Quote
woody64 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 (edited) Welcome to another Napoleonic troops lover. Very nice to see your troops already acting in scenes .... But beware my army is ready ... Woody64 Edited April 25, 2009 by woody64 Quote
woody64 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 (edited) Guys you have to visit his home page and to take a look on his other work. For example: Landshut ... Edited April 25, 2009 by woody64 Quote

Good work! The guy with the beard and axe is a sapper. They were the french armies answer to smashing down gates and obstacles on the battlefield. They were picked from the bravest men and had to grow a big beard(a strange requirement), carried an axe and wore an apron. They were normally seen marching close to the Eagle standards. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted April 25, 2009 Eurobricks Emperor Posted April 25, 2009 Hola, this is some amazing work! And I love all the scenes and pictures on your MOCpages. How long have you been into Napoleonic army customization? Quote
General Armendariz Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Wow, I love your customization! Very well done. Quote
Hound Knight Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Those are great soldiers! The Sappers are the equivalent of the British pioneers right? Quote

That's a cool thing I never knew in my whole Napoleonic Wars obession! The large beard requirement is strange indeed... Perhaps it's to frighten the enemy by their rough look, since they are only armed with an axe and armoured with a apron. Again, nice army. Quote
Admiral M Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Wow! Look at them! I love them! Will you create more, and try to make a large army out of them? It would certainly be a herculean task, but a rewarding one as well. Quote
martinsuper Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Wow! I really like the long coats and custom work. I also like how you incorporated regular LEGO pieces with your custom work to come up with a very nice overall "feel" of the minifig. They are really top notch! I am also a fan of non-firing small arms, so the ax is a big plus in my book! Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 great uniforms! I especially like the man with the axe and the long beard You should try to make a big army of men with these costumes, that would be awesome Quote

There were Mexican troops with beards and axes. Remember those guys? They came in late in the battle and tore stuff up. Kinda like that? Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 That's one of the best custom armies I have seen. Great job with all the detail and variety. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 no I don't know that movie So these guys really existed? that's funny. I thought they were just strange lego-figures Quote
Hound Knight Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 So these guys really existed? that's funny. I thought they were just strange lego-figures Yes, they really existed, as demonstrated by the center figure. They were the equivalent of the modern Army Engineers. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Well, I think you'd better not get into trouble with those guys:) But still they look a bit silly, I would feel a bit ashamed if I walked in an army with such a beard and such a uniform (but the axes are very nice ) Quote
Admiral M Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Everyone knows stuff! Good for you for knowing who those were. I didn't! Quote
