Ok,

First thing I did was this letter:

Then LEGO responded, I got all bent out of shape, and you guys made fun of me (I deserved it). That happened here (along with my response):

Well, after all that, I finally settles down, and we all had a good laugh about it.

THEN...

I get this letter from LEGO:

Dear Martin

Thank you for your follow up email. I apologize for the obvious disappointment caused from our initial response; that was not our intention.

I would like to assure you that in the previous email, we did not mean to offend you and please accept our apologies if you were left with that impression. Our consumers are our lifeblood and we are all driven daily to provide them the best possible products and service. I would like you to know the most rewarding part of my job is hearing the amazing design talents of our valued fans, such as yourself. That is why it is always a source of great concern when we hear from a consumer indicating disappointment in any aspect of our Company. Martin, we take your comments very seriously and your satisfaction is extremely important to us.

The LEGO® Group loves to hear from our fans and your comments are recorded in a global database that is read by all. I'm not part of the design team that creates new sets but I know the company is curious to hear what our consumers are saying and take the feedback seriously. Please be assured I have documented your various request and we will need to leave it in the hands of the design team if large Pirate sets will ever be produced.

Concerning your desire to see 32x32 blue baseplate on Pick a Brick, just a couple of weeks ago we added 595 new elements. As you know, currently we are only selling the green baseplate in that size. I have again documented your request to see that baseplate as a purchased items. You never know, maybe it will be part of the next upgrade to the brick palette on Pick a Brick.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience you have experienced. If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Customer Service at 1-800-835-4386 (from within the US or Canada) or 1-860-763-4011 (from outside the US or Canada), between 8:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. EST Monday – Friday and 10:00a.m. – 6:00 p.m. EST Saturday and Sunday and one of our representatives will be happy to assist you.

Hey guys,

For what it is worth, you can actually find large blue plates for sale. They come in a pack with two large greens, and one x-large grey. They are mostly sold through educational store outlets. I found them via Amazon.com in the US.

Here is a link to one of the stores, "Wizards of Math," that sells the baseplates through the Amazon.com marketplace.

I think this store was the sets for $26, but others on Amazon have them for more.

Hope this helps.

I knew about this, but I need 20 more 32 x 32 blue baseplates. What am I going to do with the rest of these?!

Awww a happy ending. I was hoping you'd rip um again. That was more fun to read. I think lego is really starting to figure out how import pick a brick is to the future of the company. I have high hopes that this revelation will eventually solve many parts issues we have all experienced.

I don't think it was people's intention here to make fun of you but to show you how Lego works and that the way you approached them wasn't going to influence them to get what you want. However your new approach seems to have done the trick and they have made a note that at least one person wants the big blue baseplate, and if they get more people like you it will increase the chances of it becoming reality. ANyway I have my fingers crossed for you that the baseplates become available soon.
