Zepher Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Nice variety of birds! Not much else to say. Clean simple build, nothing overly exciting (other than the birds of course). Very nice use of pieces, the doids one is cool, as is the epulettes (selling) one, and the duck one,, second to the left and that one near the shrubs.... You know what? They're all really cool Quote
Zorro Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Nice build! I love the little birdwatch house and the birds themselves are worth it too! You used a lot of green so it looks very realistic. A big from me for this! Quote
Guss Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Nice little moc SLyowl ^^ that's a really cool scene and your birds are very very cools! Quote
BlueBard Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 That's what I call an extreme activity! A wonderful work, as usual, mr SlyOwl but this time you deserve an extra Bravo! for your birds. I even recognized a seagull design of yours I wanted to use in my first big MOC Quote
MetroiD Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Wow! Great birdies, I'll definitely use this one as an inspiration... Thanks!!! Btw, what's next, beach bunny spotting? Quote
AwesomeStar Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 While the birds are cool, I love that birdhouse! I've always wanted to ask, but how do you do that roofing technique? It must be very clever! Cool birds - Cooler birdhouse! ~A.S. Quote
prateek Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 wow!!! i love the birds with all the fig accesories and fig hands Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Just to make it clear to anyone who didn't already know, SlyOwl has too much LEGO! Nice use of minifig parts in this Sly. A nice addition to your already huge collection of MOCs. Quote
UserNameInvalid Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) Brilliant! Love how you did the birds! Great MOC all together! Edit: I just had a look at some of your other MOCs. I had not come across them yet. -Sorry, I'm new here- Love them. They really tell a story. Very well done! Edited April 20, 2009 by UserNameInvalid Quote
Skipper 24 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Just to make it clear to anyone who didn't already know, SlyOwl has too much LEGO!Nice use of minifig parts in this Sly. A nice addition to your already huge collection of MOCs. I agree lets burn it . Anyway your birds look excellent and I really like the way you stacked the flower stalks to create reeds. Quote
Natman8000 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I agree lets burn it . Anyway your birds look excellent and I really like the way you stacked the flower stalks to create reeds. No, lets take it! Great moc, I love the birds! Quote
Etzel Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Amazing! I've had a similar idea but this is much better then I could ever do There are so many cool techniques in it! I really don't understand how the grey bird (a heron?) is built. I tried myself but I can't make out how to connect the pieces here: The minifig hand appears to be too small, at least for me Quote
Izzy Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 So so so clever! What a brilliant MOC. I love how you casually say "quick build in between MOCs" I can only dream for as much Lego or brilliant ideas as you. Quote
Perterz Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 That works so well, perfect balance! Very realistic looking shed and those birds are plain brilliant, again I'm amazed by the great use off the minifig hands.. Quote
SlyOwl Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 I love you guys You used a lot of green so it looks very realistic. Reeds are normally tan (in birdy places), but there was nothing I could do about it (and I think green is more appealing) I even recognized a seagull design of yours I wanted to use in my first big MOC Ah, I remember it well Btw, what's next, beach bunny spotting? Could be! Although generally I prefer a little more action with the bunnies While the birds are cool, I love that birdhouse! I've always wanted to ask, but how do you do that roofing technique? It must Tiles onto plates. The inverse slopes then balance on the walls - simple as that! Sometimes I use hinges for a more secure roof, but it didn't seem necessary this time, as it was a wuick build. Just to make it clear to anyone who didn't already know, SlyOwl has too much LEGO!Nice use of minifig parts in this Sly. A nice addition to your already huge collection of MOCs. I don't have nearly as much as some people! I just have a high turnover - heck, I had to take apart a fair bit of the Tribal Sacrifice to get some parts for this one! I just had a look at some of your other MOCs. I had not come across them yet. -Sorry, I'm new here- Love them. They really tell a story. Very well done! Thanks! I really don't understand how the grey bird (a heron?) is built. I tried myself but I can't make out how to connect the pieces here: In this instance, I stretched the hand a bit (and the "head" stays on as the "entrance" to the hand just about holds onto the knobble on the end of the gear stick), but there is an alternative: The rond flat bit of this gear stick is exactly the width of a standard bar, so the hand fits on perfectly. Unfortunately on Bricklink you sometimes get standard gear sticks when you thought you ordered the small variety, which is annoying So so so clever! What a brilliant MOC. I love how you casually say "quick build in between MOCs" Well it was! I had hoped to have another big thing out this weekend, but a surprise German exam has put a stop to that Quote
Etzel Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Oh, so there are two different sizes of those sticks. That explains a lot I guess the smaller kind are older since I don't have any. Might have some in my old collection though (which I don't have access to until summer ). Thanks for enlighten me! Quote
Wout Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Wow, what a great moc. I love the birds and the building and the plants. It's cozy and nice. Are there more pictures of it (also from the back)? Quote
