Could Imperial soldiers be substituted for American soldiers?

I not only agree, but this was always the way I ALWAYS saw it as a kid. It was also the reason why I liked blue and did not like red.

My port is a blue port only, red are the bad guys, not the pirates!!!

Yes they could be use for Americans! I know alot of people said the blue coats were most likely the french army, but If you look at the french their uniforms they were light blue!!! But I am much more of a fan of the red coats I always like the bad guys. Always have the bigger armies and better equipment!

Not really. Mainly because it's dark blue and not the blue the Imperial Soldiers have.

I still like to thing of them as French-ish

It really depends of the degree of pedantry that the owner or his peers suffer from.

I'm quite pedantic, and I think it would be fine - but there's a caution, I am not very familiar with the particularities of American soldiers' apparel or those of their contemporaries.

I don't see that the shade of blue is an issue - but there is a mini-fig with a dark blue coat that looks just perfect.

I've always thought that the redcoats looked like British troops and that the "bluecoats" looked like American colonial troops. You just have to take off those shoulder pad things.

The bluecoats have been, and will always be, the French in my eyes. Perhaps also because of the fleur de lis.

Well I guess you could use them as American Soldiers, but they don't really look like them. I would go to the decal library and print out some of those that look more like American Soldiers.

I agree with Mr Tiber and have to say no. The bluecoats are the French and the redcoats the British for me. But if you like them as American soldiers, it's fine for me... NP! Maybe you can make a decal with the same design but in dark blue... I think this will look better (see your photo).

French and British. I have to agree with everyone else who said it. The uniforms have a European flair to it that American "uniforms" specifically in the Revolutionary War lacked. A remarkable fact of the American Revolution was that this ragtag no-frills entirely inferior "army" took on and beat back the British Empire. So, it'd take something a little less ornate to work as an American uniform, in my opinion. Though I think were a substitution to be made, I could see the Red Imperials serving as perhaps the Spanish.

I think that the third one is the best. I like the red stripes on the second and third ones, however I do not like the brown collar on the second one.

Its either the red epaulettes or nothing at all on the shoulder and also add the ammo pouch.
