Jasbrick Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 (edited) Hi, EDIT: Check below for another fig (Strontium Dog) I am going to try and group my posts rather than spamming the forum (please accept my apologies Mods)... that being said the following does not fit with any of my previous posts, so this is my last misdemeanor... honest! In contrast to all the historical figs I have been posting I thought I would do a fig from my own childhood... this guy is Colonel Dan Dare. He was from the Eagle comic that I read as a boy and loved the adventures of this amazing character. Anyway for the older members of the forum here is my version of Colonel Dan Dare: And at a slightly different angle: Jasbrick Edited April 7, 2009 by Jasbrick Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Man your painting skills are awesome! I don't know the comic, but it makes me think a bit of the fantastic four, it has that 70's feel to it. And no need to apologise here. Quote
AwesomeStar Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 While from waaaaaay after that era (Dan Dare was first published in the 50s, I think), I do know the character, and while what I've seen of him is different, this seems very cool, and captures him very well. The guns are VERY accurate, so good job! Tip: Dan Dare is shown with a sorta square-ish helmet, preferably in orange. Maybe try that as a little combo to go with him. Also, what about the big, green-headed alien fella. I can't remember his name.... Anyway, super-cool work, AGAIN! ~A.S. Quote

The fig here is an exact replica of an Annual cover for 1987 that is why he looks the way he does. The Green headed fella is called the Mekon. Thanks Jasbrick Quote
AwesomeStar Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Ah, I see. Well, he's darn cool anyway! Thanks for triggering my memory on Mekon, damn, he was evil! ~A.S. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 He needs Treens to fight and a Mekon to boulderdash. I love the Eagle comics my uncle has a book and the books are in the library Zeerust should be represented more in Lego MOCs and custom figures. Great Work Quote
Jasbrick Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 Rather than creating a new topic I thought I would add another Comic hero here: With my previous Dan Dare (which only a seemed to recognise... which is a sad indication of my age) I thought I would show you another of my childhood comic heroes in Minifig form... here is Johnny Alpha the Strontium Dog, one of the meanest bounty hunters in the galaxy: Jasbrick Quote
AwesomeStar Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 *GASP* I love Strontium Dog! Its in my favorite comic - 2000AD!! You've made my day! ~A.S. Quote
