Captain Blackmoor Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 (edited) Hello there mateys! Some of you may have heard from my ship the "Le Formidable" before. Well, I've updated some things and I'd like to share it with you. I have started several topics about the ship but this will be the final one which means I'll post my updates in here from now on. Now off to the pics! An overview of the whole ship. I've done the rigging for the biggest part but it's not quite finished yet. The stern in it's current state, this part has undergone lots of updates already. I need some more tiles to tile the gallery roofings. A view at the broadside. I want the new cannons! The forecastle and bowsprit. Perhaps you notice I've changed the deck to tan instead of black. I need some more tan plates to finish it all. A view from the quarterdeck, the captain can oversee the whole ship from here. Another view from the whole ship. Now from a different angle. The forechasers are General Armendariz's design. A shot on the gallery of the ship. And yes, the whole ship has an interior filled with goodies, furniture and cannons. My sigfig watching what you are doing outside the cabin. My sigfig enjoying the good life in the cabin along with his pipe. I've made a custom flag, the patterns are from ImperialShadows. This flag will be placed on the stern, replacing the current flag. The current flag is too small so I made a larger one! Next time when you see this flag on a ship, pray, and hope for mercy you pirates! More pictures on Brickshelf! Comments always appreciated! Thanks for watching! EDIT: New flag added! Edited April 6, 2009 by Cap'n Blackmoor Quote
General Armendariz Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 (edited) Nice ship so far and wow thats a lot of rigging I just might do that for my new ship. Your doing great! May I suggest changing the windows to lattice windows? Edited March 30, 2009 by Genaral armendariz Quote
Ratshot Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Your ship looks awesome, but I would suggest taking some photos of the hold....I want to see the goodies I agree with the General, the red windows don't exactly look.....good, shall we say. Other than that it looks GREAT. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 Nice ship so far and wow thats a lot of rigging I just might do that for my new ship. Your doing great! May I suggest changing the windows to lattice windows? I'm looking for lattice windows but there are only a few at BrickLink, and they are quite expensive too. The red window itself will be replaced by black ones soon. Glad you like it! Your ship looks awesome, but I would suggest taking some photos of the hold....I want to see the goodies I agree with the General, the red windows don't exactly look.....good, shall we say. Other than that it looks GREAT. Thank you Broadside, as mentioned above I'm struggling with the right coloursheme for the galleries, I like the red trim on the ship and I don't want to have it too black. I'm working on it every day, on videos as well and the school exams are coming soon. I'll do my best finding gaps in my busy schedule. Quote

Ill be waiting for further updates. I'm lucky that I don't have to do exams do to the fact that I am home schooled, but to make up for it the Government tests us. Broadside. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 I got test week now and I may not order bricks from BrickLink till this week is over. Otherwise I am unable to learn. Expect some updates next week. I hope I have more bricks then. Quote
Guss Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 (edited) huhuh that's really cool ! I really love it shapes and it cabin, I think it's quite historically accurate ( I think, maybe I'm wrong I'm not a specialist even If I saw a lot of old ships where I used to live^^) I think that for the decorations on the rear of it you need Yellows parrots, but they're rare! anyway, I love it , you did a great job! can't wait to see the finished ship^^ PS : I see that you renamed it^^ Edited March 30, 2009 by Guss Quote
General Armendariz Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Couple of questions, What did you use to hold the ratlines/rigging? Example: Those rings. Please show me a link to that peace. How much midsections did you use? And I see you used my Imperial trading post ship cannons as swivel guns! I love inspiring/giving ideas Quote

Glad you like it Guss! Couple of questions, What did you use to hold the ratlines/rigging? Example: Those rings. Please show me a link to that peace. How much midsections did you use? And I see you used my Imperial trading post ship cannons as swivel guns! I love inspiring/giving ideas The forechasers are exactly your design indeed, the small cannons on deck were there already, I've only made some more. Sure! There are no ratlines yet because I need the right ropes for it. I've used these, plugged in these. Those things are connected to the hull. 5 Redbeard Runner midsections are used in here, I'm planning to expand it with 2 more midsections or replace it all in brown. The ship needs to be slightly taller. (the width of the stern should fit 6 times in the length of the ship). Edited March 31, 2009 by Cap'n Blackmoor Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 looks very great with all the ropes! now it can finally set sail (alhtough it doesn't have any sails:) ) and are you also going to make the ropes in which the crew can climb to the crow's nest? (a lot of work and not really necessary 'cause it looks perfect already, but anyway.. ) Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 Thank you my good friend! Yes, I'm planning to make the ratlines too, but I need a different kind of rope and a lot of time. I think when my exams are over I have enough time to spend some good time on the ship. I'm curious how your ship is coming along but we'll discuss that in other places soon! The next update will be the sails, I need to find some good cloth to make some. I hope I can do that in this weekend. I'm also planning to make another ship, this will be a slightly smaller merchant ship or another manowar, but I'm still thinking on that and nothing is sure yet since it costs loads of money and time. I'm glad you like it YnyklY! Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 (edited) I've updated the interior of the cabin today. I've updated the furniture and added some small details in it. I'm working on the sails now and I'm also updating the gun deck interior. Pics coming soon! Check the first post for the new pictures. Edited April 5, 2009 by Cap'n Blackmoor Quote
