Good time-zone-appropriate-greeting to you all. I've been working on this all week, and thought I should get some feedback, as i'm pretty sure i've gone overboard with SNOT. It started as the base of an entry for a Military contest on Flickr, but i'm unsure whether to use it now. As you can see, it doesn't look too much like The Middle East. Well, here it is:

Overview:

An interior shot.

You can see the other few pics on my Flickr.

Thanks for looking!

Yeah, it probably doesn't look too military like. But I disagree with the statement about going overboard with the SNOT. Your SNOT looks great. I especially like the hole in the sand. Very random looking which I think is the idea. I think you would probably be best to turn this MOC into a thriving city block. But thanks for sharing anyway mate!

The project looks great! I think the interior looks superior to the exterior right now. I would consider bringing some of that excellent technique from inside to outside. The windows and white brick just seem too basic compared to the other parts of it. And I really don't see how this could become a military base. Have you googled pics to work from for that? But, all in all, I think it's a very cool building and I would continue working with it and continue to create something really cool despite the contest. The tower and sand outside are a really great start for the military base, but I'm not sure how the building fits with that. The building looks more like an Embassy than a military base.

A City Block eh? Interesting. Could work, with time... Thanks!

WOW! Great SNOT work, Skinny boy! I really like the entry and the sand in the hole and the interior shots are impressive!

Thanks BlueBard! I always love hearing from you :classic:

So glad you replied Hinck. Now then. Just to point out, 'twas never meant to be a military base, merely a scene in the Middle East for a battle to take place. Sorry if I caused some confusion there.

I have decided to use it for the contest, because; 1: I've realised i'm now low on bulk coloured bricks. If I were to keep this as a city MOC and make another entry, I would be quitting fairly soon.

2: I don't want to break this (who would? ) to make a different entry.

When i've taken pics of my entry, and everythings been sorted, it will definitely be turned into a City creation.

I don't quite know what to say about the white floor and windows. I've already changed them to light gray window frames (to better suit the military theme, don't make me explain), but theres not much I can do about the floor.

I'm already getting a bunch of ideas for what to use this for after the comp. I might add a poll later with a few of my favourites to see what others think. And oh yes, thanks!

That's actually a great build Skinny boy, it may not be what you intended it to be, but the final product looks very impressive. The lobby is visually stunning, mostly due to the smooth SNOT finish of the walls, floor, ceiling, everything! Maybe you could convert it into something else, a hotel or a high-class boutique store probably. Anyway, great job overall! default_thumbup.gif

Nice clean and modern building. Looks like it should be in London's docklands, maybe either as an educational building for the university nearby or offices up near Excel.
