  1. 1. What do you think of the 6493?

    • It's a good set on its own with parts useless for MOCs

    • It's so bad it's not worth getting at all

The Time Cruisers would've been great if the concept of the line was different. They should appear as disguised time travellers, for instance the ship in question should look just like a normal ship from the outside, no silly wings, propellers etc, but with computers and stuff like this hidden inside, not visible to strangers, so that noone would know they are actually from another time.

Except the innocent pirates who boarded her...

Now here are two MOCs made by Richie Dulin that are using 6493's hull:

LINK 2

As you can see they both have custom-made middle sections with gray inverted slopes.

I forgot about the 'Revenge'. Good Call/spot!

Speaking of 6493's parts that can be useful for Pirate collectors I must say I like Timmy's head:

It fits well for a young unexperienced member of the crew, who is always ordered to do jobs like cleaning the deck and so on :D

Poor Tim... However he does have the questionable advantage of being one of the few (only?) figs to have a letter indicating their name on their torso.

Exactly my thoughts.

It should've been adventurously technological, not intoxicatedly psychedelic.

Aren't grey hulls suitable for shipwrecks?

I always picture the paint wearing off... maybe a time-lapse shipwreck would be cool. Starting with the grey hull and a lot of pieces and then moving to brown and less around it (as more has been washed away...)

I thought it would be the other way round - they go grey and rotten!

The black interior sort of kills that. Good idea though!

Time to get out the spray paint then...

I'm too much of a purist...

God Bless,

Nathan, straying dangerously close to a new thread ;)

How well does spray paint work with LEGO though? Would it interfer with the way it connects?

I've often wondered the same thing. I think it would if it you stacked high enough and then tried to connect to an unpainted stack.

The paint also might make the bricks harder to pull apart. We probably should create a new thread all about Spray Painting LEGO, but I can't be bothered right now...

neither can I so lets stay off-topic :-D Would the Lego base coulour effect the final look. eg turning red into grey gets a different grey then turning yellow into grey, with the same paint?

God Bless,

Nathan
