Eilif Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 (edited) A simple question. If you had to pick one of the other, would you rather... Have a wider selection of LEGO elements? or... Have the existing line of elements available in a wider selection of current LEGO colors? 2 things to note: 1) I'm not talking about new colors, just having more of the current elements in each of the existing colors, especially dark red, dark blue, sand green, dark tan, etc... 2) Leave minifig accessories and parts out of your consideration. There will be new ones every year regardless, and most of us probably have a really long list of minifig stuff we want to see. I'll start. I'd rather see more colors for existing LEGO pieces. Sand green and Dark Tan would be excellent colors to MOC with, but the number of pieces available is still fairly small compared to other colors. Edited March 7, 2009 by Eilif Quote
Millacol88 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I voted for a larger variety of colours. My reasoning being that I think we have enough pieces, but we don't see enough in sand green/dark tan/dark red and those sorts of colours. I prefer darker colours as it makes the sets look less childish, somehow. Quote
soc399 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I also voted for more colors. In addition to the great colors mentioned above (dark tan, sand green, dark red), I really like the new chocolate brown and would love to see a wider variety of pieces. Quote
Ralph Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Going with more colors for the current parts available, the current varietiy of parts is fine for me... any more new parts released will cause me to be even more broke then I am now trying to buy those sets they are in. Ralph Quote
Legoman31 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I voted for more colors on different pieces. I really wish that they would make tan cheese. Quote
Ricecracker Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I voted for more colours. I feel that we have enough elements to work with, as seen in current MOCs, but a wider selection of colours for those parts would greatly enhance our creations. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 More colours. The parts we have are fantastic and great to work with. However I want more in new colours and more of them in the colours we have. Quote
hewkii9 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I voted more recolors, as I really like the new dark brown and want to see a lot more parts in that color. Quote
WhiteHexagon Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 less pieces in less colours would be fine by me even  Quote
Ratshot Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I would drather have new pieces, it gives you more flexabilty when building MOCs. Quote
Natman8000 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I really wish there were more dark tan pieces. So its more recolors for me. Quote
CP5670 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 More colors, but that mainly applies to transparent colors. I would especially like to see more basic bricks and plates available in the 7 or 8 classic transparent colors. Quote
Shadows Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 More widespread use of colours, especially the dark and sand varieties. I'd also like to see every design of hair and more hats in every potentially realistic colour. It's a cheap and easy way for TLG to insure some additional sales and one I would think they would be happy doing, if for no other reason than to more accurately represent the world around them without having to produce new parts. Quote
Dragonator Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I also voted for colour; I would love more pieces in the dark colours, such as dark red, blue and green etc. Quote
legotrainfan Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I'm also of the opinion that we should have more colours for the existing pieces. Sometimes it's terribly annoying when you realise that a particular piece does not exist in the colour you urgently need. Quote
Rijkvv Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 More colours. I really want dark green Model Team wheels... Quote
prateek Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 we need newer pieces (e.g. 1x3 plates, ?x5 bricks/plates, etc....) Quote
Ricecracker Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 we need newer pieces (e.g. 1x3 plates) Here you are my friend. Quote
prateek Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Here you are my friend. Oh, nonono, i have lots of those, I meant 1x3 tiles. Sorry for the misundestanding. Quote
blueandwhite Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I'd prefer to see existing elements available in a greater variety of colours. Honestly, there are so many fantastic colours out there (dark brown being a great example) that simply don't come in a wide range of useful elements. This is absolutely infuriating! As much as I'd like to see a few new elements (the aforementioned 1x3 tiles for example), I feel that the shortcoming of certain elements in sertain colours is a far more pressing issue. Also, in these hard economic times I would imagine that producing a large number of new molds would be less cost effective and I'm hoping LEGO doesn't end up becoming obscenely expensive in the near future. More colours for me please ! Quote
Eilif Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 Thanks for all your responses folks. It seems like folks are generally happy with the selection of piece types, but want to see more pieces in some of the newer colors. Though I didn't sepecifically ask about it, no one seemed to mention any unhappiness with the current color palate. Thus it seems like LEGO probably did the right thing a few years back when they lowered both the number of different part designs and the number of colors of parts. Asside from the great color change incident which ocurred before the event I'm speaking about, no one seems to be missing the obscure deleted colors, rather we are clamoring for the existing parts in existing colors. Dollar Bill Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I want 1x3 tiles as well. I'm building a small castle MOC that could benefit greatly from them. If only, if only.... Quote
