There was hope that this year would be a return to the fun, kanohi collecting of 2001. Not so. The "mask pack" for this year was NOT different colors of the metru masks... but F'ing repainted THROWBOT discs and their non-symmetrical launcher pieces. Yay? NO.

The metru sets were decent sources of new parts. Unfortunately, not having any sources for different colored masks, there was not much excitement to customize or moc them as the toa from 2001 had.

Their weapons blew beyond words, especially the blue one's. (Nuju)

Nidhiki almost got my vote, but I went with the Vahki. They were a good mix of new parts combined with old parts in new colors.

They too had launchers like the DISGUSTINGLY LAZY Matoran from this year, but theirs were symmetrical, able to be used in mocs without looking like absolute megablock. Also nice was Lego's slant over to "dangerous" looking weapons. Sure, they still had the balls to insult our intelligence by calling them "tools", but really... some were big fuckin' swords... obviously Lego caught on that everyone's favorite weapon from 2001 was Kopaka's white sword.

About the metruan... the matoran for this year... absolutely despicable. Just a big, stupid, HOLLOW, un-moc'able shell with a head and some feet sticking off it.

A very lazy, very embarrassing product from Lego. It's ONLY saving grace was the new joints in the legs and arms. The kanohi would have been a positive point, but they weren't solid... half of ALL of them were mixed in with that annoying silver/pearl color. Not a good thing for moc'ing.

Turaga Dume / Nivawk... what on earth? Looked nothing like the creature in the movie. Looked bad even despite that. I hope some "Master Builders" lost their jobs for making something this awful looking.
