juergs Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Hi everyone. I've been planning to build an ocean themed MOC, one that is in the middle of the ocean. I'm going to put it on a blue SNOT base, and I'm planning to build a detailed house on a tiny rocky island. I want the house itself to extend over the island, giving it a topheavy appearance. I want the bottom to look kind of like an keep, but I want it more luxurious and villa-like at the top in the living quarters. I'm new on eurobricks, and I'd really appreciate some suggestions or advice before I get started. Thanks! Quote
Brickaholic Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) Welcome to EB! Go on over to the "Hello, My Name Is..." board and introduce yourself! My personal advice is to build a "dock" on the water and build a house on it. That's all I have. Hope that helps! EDIT: You could use half arch pieces to achieve the top heavy look. I love the dock idea, and it got me thinking about building a cave in which i can park the little boat my minifigs will use to get to the island. I think if I put both in there, it'll look sweet. I've been experimenting with half arches for a while, and I think I know just how I'll use them. Thanks for the advise on the "Hello, my name is..." board, I just posted some stuff about me Thanks! Brickaholic Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Your welcome! I was thinking, BURPs are good for rocky cliffs. Maybe that would be good for the inside of the cave. Quote
ILikePi Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) Maybe you should do something like put some wooden beams to support half of the base of the house, as if the land was at a slope. Also, I would suggest you add some stuff like lots of windows and, if you're making a two story + house, add a balcony. P.S. Welcome to EuroBricks! Edited February 28, 2009 by ILikePi Quote
juergs Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 Thanks! I built it last night, and I tried to put in as many windows as possible. I should have some pics up soon Quote

Basiliscus Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Please remember to plan for the effects of global warming and melting ice caps. That's rather cynical? On topic: My own idea would be to have some kind of lighthouse area otherwise ships may crash into the island in the dark! Quote
