darkrebellion Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I didn´t found any other forum to post this (I don´t think this belongs to LEGO SW or to any other ) so my question is simple. Do you like Podracing? (As a note to anyone who doesn´t know what is podracing it is the equivalent of the NASCAR in the SW universe and is featured in TPM ). I will post my opinion later cause I am a bit short of time by now . Quote
Oky Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 (edited) HELL YEAH! I love podracing! The concept is so cool! Podracers look cool, and the sounds they make are even cooler! - The Boontha Eve Classic is my most favorite scene of the whole SW saga! - "SW Racer" and "SW Racer Revenge" are among my favorite videogames of all time! - The Mos Espa Podrace set is possibly my most favorite Lego (SW) set! - Besides Darth Maul (who is awesome!), the podrace is the thing that kept TPM from being a complete failure! I am not exaggerating! I really love podracing with all my geeky heart! I really, really hope that there will be more podracer sets! Also, I really hope that there will be an episode in The Clone Wars where Anakin is forced to participate in another podrace, possibly on a new, interesting planet! Perhaps in order to win someone's freedom or to gain access to some important information or something? I think my favorite Podracer is Mars Guo. The huge engines on his pod look awesome, and it's a really good pod in the videogames. Podracing ON! Edited February 25, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
xenologer Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 (edited) I didn't like it much. Mostly because the vehicles didn't make much sense, having the pilot sit behind the engine exhaust seems like a recipe for barbeque. That and how everything is free floating; engines not connected to the cockpit solidly. And where's the gas tank? Sure, they were trying to capture the excitement of chariot races. I just don't think it works as well when you take the horses and replace them with jet engines... and make the chariot float... I mean, analogies to old ideas often work well in science fiction, but they took things too literally with the design of pod racers; so it just didn't work for me... DarthSion Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Lol, like nascar, except its not a bunch of red necks doing 200mph around a circle making left hand turns. Quote
pr0visorak Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Well yea, podracing seemed fun but the only time I tried was in Lego star wars. I am afaraid Lego did not portray podracing as an easy game. But yea, it is pretty cool Quote
5150 Lego Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Lol, like nascar, except its not a bunch of red necks doing 200mph around a circle making left hand turns. Ha ha! Actually, i'd have to say it would take more skill to pilot a podracer than a nascar. I love it when people try to argue with me that its one of the most "advanced form of racing there is". I ussualy just smile and wave after that. Quote
Commander_Blitz Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I've never really seen the attraction people have to hurtling round courses at hundreds, maybe thousands, of miles per hour. Quote
darkrebellion Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 Well maybe my concept comparision with the NASCAR isn´t the most appropiate for the podracing , I think it is more like a bunch of competitors racing to death in ultra-difficult to control vehicles and at hostile tracks . Well here is my opinion on the topic now that I have more time : Personally I love the podracing concept . It is an awesome idea to integrate "races" in the SW universe and what better way than a bunch of modify vehicles in hostile locations . In my opinion a CW episode showing some podracing would be great like Oky Wan Kenobi mentioned also I agree with you in all your points . The SW podracing games are the best ones SW themed and I need to said I also like Mars Guo but no one is faster than Neva Kee , althought I don´t like the look of him or his pod . My personal favorite design-wise is the Ark Boompy Rose podracer. Quote
DarthSion Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Pod racing = Wipeout minus guns, and i mean the games made for Sony consoles, not the stupid red neck tv show. Quote

That is one of my favorite SW moments of all time! My fav podracer has to be "gas'n'go" aka gasgano and his ord pedrovia is really neat, I love all the little gadgets the pods have and Racer revenge is both one of me and my dad's fav video games! Heck I used to memorize the names of all the racers and pods and what place they got in the race, Pretty nerdy huh! The lego set was AMAZING I got it a year ago for only $40.00! I have also almost completely memorized every part of the racers such as the power cords and thermal couplers, So yea I guess I like podraceing a bit too much! I have a question though I never found out how Clegg Holdfast got 5th place even though he exploded. ~Computerbug P.S sorry Okay (not ok-ey) but I don't think there will be a episode like that because the game racer revenge took place when Ani was 18 and that was said to be when his last podrace was .
