Admiral Bejaune Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) Hello everyone. Just wondering if anyone else plays guitar out there. Style of playing, Rig(Amp, pedals, etc), Etc. vulture droid Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I've been playing for a while, I have a Fender Mustang, and acoustic, and an Ibanez artcore semi-hollow bass. I have a crybaby wah, Grunge distortion, and a multi-effects pedal and a cheap amp. Quote
Eilif Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) Not a shreeder, more of a groover actually. I play bass guitar. Right now I'm in a country band (www.janesvillecountry.com), but my favorite genre's to play range from Brit-rock, to alt-country to reggae to Blues rock. I have alot of instruments (full list here ) and I've kind of become a gearhead/tinkerer. Right now I'm mainly gigging my Homebuilt Jazz bass (Waromoth p neck, allparts body, Dimarzio pups) my Fender Precision, and a '79 Peavey T-40. I sometimes take out an Ibanez Artcore with a Jack Cassady Pickups/Electronics, and a Lakland 55-01. I'm currently working on a Franken-bass with dual Darkstar pickups but that's not quite finsihed yet. I don't use effects, but I have a Boss ODB-3 that I occasionally as a gain boost if I need it and a Morley ABY for keeping my backup bass immidiately available. For amps: at big shows, I run a Peavey VB-2 (200 watts all tube) through a Carvin 8x10. It's alot of fun to hear that setup rumble, but for most shows my lightweight rig of an Ampeg portabass 210 cab and 250 head are more than enough. Edited February 17, 2009 by Eilif Quote
Matn Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I also play the guitar. Well, I try to play it. I bought one in de summer vacation of 2007, and I started learning enthiusasticly. And now a year later it's been a month ago I touched my Squier Stratocaster. I told myself to play again this Saturday, then I'll have week off: vacation. I would love to play a bit of everything, just not the hard metal stuff. Any tips for a beginning player? Quote
Tim Bit Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I just started a couple weeks ago. Don't ask me any technical mumbo jumbo because I don't own a guitar I'm just renting. Keep grooving. Quote
Legoist Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Shredder here... well, sort of. I'm at amateur level. I'm 33 and have been playing since age 17, but with some long black-out period in between. I played in 4 bands overtime (3 before the black-out), but only 2 were serious enough to get some gigging. I studied with private teachers for the first 5 years, then turn to self-teaching. My last band stopped activity about 5 months ago due to drummer's health problems which aren't solved yet; out of respect for her, we didn't seek another drummist and we're instead planning to turn from a gig-oriented cover band to recording originals, which supposedly should be less demanding for her health. I owned several pieces of equipment through the years, but today I'm downsized to just the minimum: one electric (Charvel), one classical (non-famous brand), one effect processor (Boss GT-8), and one amp (Squier). I'm a rock-type guitarist: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Lenny Kravitz... not much "shread" here, but as part of personal studies and exercise I've always challenged myself with some classic shread too, mostly Satriani, Vai and Petrucci (some lucky songs by them I can play, but definitely not the majority).
