Derek Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Lego is known to do some things that leave us totally confused. One of those things is putting the SAME minifig heads in the SAME type of sets. Which gets me to the question and topic of this thread- What minifig head(s) do you find the worst?AND/ORWhat minifigure head(s) do you feel is overused. And... What minifig head(s) do you find the best?AND/ORWhat minifigure head(s) do you feel is under-used. For me, I feel they over use these- 1) Bruce Wayne (Is in basically every Indiana Jones set) 2) Standard Smile with Silver Sunglasses (Try saying that ten times fast?) 3) Angry Mouth and Tense Eyebrows (Its almost to the point where I don't want to buy sets with it) 4) Smirk with Goatee (I can tell it is going to be overused in the pirate line...) Don't get me wrong, they are all great heads, but they all are totally over used. There are sooo many other great heads they can use for generic figures. I think I will do my picks for underused later... -darthperson Quote
Svelte Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Easy! I think this one is particularly overused in 2007-2009: Click here for the peeron list. In the Jan 09 wave alone it's in Pirates: Loot Island & Soldier's Fort, the Castle Building set, City Farm 4WD with trailer, BBQ Impulse, City Construction Site... In 2007 it was in another small creator set, Coast Guard, Advent Calendars, Garbage Truck, City Harbour... and the list goes on. Forget about Star Wars Battle Packs; if you really want to build an army of clones, hire this guy's agent Quote
Etzel Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 This one is also frequently occurring in 08/09 sets: I think it's a good head but multitude is always welcome. I would really like some more female heads for example. Quote
The Cobra Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 WORST: It was in the Final Joust and now in the Pirates impulse sets... And what about this? Finally, bad and overused: BEST: Quote
brickzone Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 This one is also frequently occurring in 08/09 sets: I think it's a good head but multitude is always welcome. I would really like some more female heads for example. I find that one fairly OK because it can be reasonably suitably used as a generic head for footsoldiers (Castle). The Rascus head (as posted by The Cobra above) on the other hand is too much of a distinctive design and so one ends up with far too many. It does suit may of the instances it's been used in (e.g. most recently the pirates) but should be only used in one or two sets of a line. Quote
Tinn-man Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 NO!!! Not the silver sunglasses. Its in my sigfig personally, I hate theseNBA basketball heads Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 That smirky face happens to be my sigfig! Mind you, it is overused. Personally, the only face I have too many of is this: I have way too many of that guy!! Quote
TheShnomon Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I think the most overused was already posted, the smirking goatee man. I got most pictures from Findmybrick on eBay. Worst- The first one just looks God awful, the second looks like Charlie Chaplin on drugs, and the third is just pretty damn stupid looking. The masked side is alright, but the other side looks like a bird-faced albino. An honorable mention should go out to Bane, who has the worst paint apps I've ever seen. That paint chipped off so easily... Best- I just like these two a lot. The detail is fantastic, and the expression/mood they give off is also great. I also think they have ot be some of the most underused minifig heads. I love these two heads, and currently own both of them. :D Quote
Derek Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) Best Underused heads IMO In either color And this one is one of my favorites just because. This one just cracks me up. And I'd like to add this to the "Overused" category. Geez Lego. God forbid every female isn't scared. Talk about sexism... Edited February 11, 2009 by darthperson Quote
Ricecracker Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I definitely think that the SSSS (Standard smile with silver sunglasses) is way overused. And plain scary. But I think some good ones include: (or any other dual sided Exo-force heads for that matter) Also, I think this is a more versatile head regarding the aforementioned one: Quote
Sandy Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 And I'd like to add this to the "Overused" category. Geez Lego. God forbid every female isn't scared. Talk about sexism... These heads only have the scared side on the Castle and Pirate themes. Luckily the new queen fig will have an angry face instead of a scared one on the other side. These new female heads aren't as feminine as the old ones, but they're more in style with the other new minifig heads with their glowy eyes and eyebrows. I just wish they would make some with black eyebrows as well, because these heads look silly with a black hairpiece. I don't really know what specific face would be overused... Maybe the one single troll-face, I have like twenty of those. I'm glad that there are new troll faces with the new figs coming with the Troll Mountain Fortress. But all in all, I appreciate all unique minifig faces. It shows we're past the olden times when every single minifig had the same smiley face. Quote

meschepers Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I know this is a little off topic but can anyone tell me what set the second head in ricecracker's post came from? I think it would be a great addition to castle and pirate themed MOCs. If there is anyway someone could put a link to a page on bricklink where I could buy some of them I would really appreciate it. Capt. Kirk Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) Overused I really hate this one Bad Worst All the heads from the Martian stes Best I love all the heads with the twinkle in the eyes ... Best extra Edited February 11, 2009 by Capt. Kirk Quote
The Who Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 The Colonel Dovchenko fig has one of the most awesome but underused heads. Quote
CP5670 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 The old Unitron commander head is one of my favorites: OverusedI really hate this one This has to be the best example of an overused head and is probably second to only the original smile head. It's not a bad head, but almost every single figure in the town junior era from 1997-2002 used it. Quote

Filip Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 God I hate that face. The best is the normal smiley face. I love that one. Quote
