School is shut for the first time in eight years! YAY! I had to refill the frozen water for the chickens this morning. One escaped and seemed incredibly puzzled by the snow. She looked like she was doing a march of some sort because the snow is cold and it feels different. However, there are fox prints by the fence so I need to be careful locking them up. :look:

Its happened again! Only this time, At Christmas! Woo!

Woohoo! It's about 11:20pm here in the northwest and is snowing moderately, which is much better than most times we get snow (not often at all)!

Hopefully it'll have settled overnight and be nice and deep tomorrow morning! :sweet:

Love the snow!

Are we expecting as much as last year?

I doubt it, because it was further into Winter back then....

But still, here's hoping. There was a really bad accident right outside of my house, both of the roads leading up to my house have been closed as a result, so we're pretty much stranded for now.

How's everyone else doing with the snow?

Well when I was going Sutton Highstreet to shop today, it was snowing heavy on the bus. Then there was no snow in Sutton Highstreet, just the salt ready pushed to the sides of the pavement. And when we got home, it began to snow. Its been snowing for 2 hours but It stopped about 3 hours ago. Im hoping it will snow through the night as they predicted it would be like 2-3 foot of snow.

Hoping that next week will be worse, more snow, more cold. It will make it more like Christmas.

Yeah, me too. I'm hoping that we'll get our snow during the night; and what with our days being very short, that means less evil sun to melt it!.

We didn't get as much snow durig the day here, only a brief, gentle fall for about half an hour, then random little drifts every so foten until about maybe four-ish.

Perhaps we're going to get a white Christmas

Polysnow, snow that looked like polystyrene beads. It is bloomin' freezing but no precipitation yet. No problem for me, I wanted to go to Cardiff tommorow and if it did snow badly today I would have to walk in to work and no one else would be in the office

About a millimetre at best.

Oh, well. Let's just hope it will be much better at Christmas. :classic:

Here in Romania it has been snowing quite heavily for the last three day and the snow is about 30-40 cm tall, but the schools didn't close, they were already closed so we have an extra week of holiday.

Unfortunately, the snow will be melt by Christmas, but still it is very nice.

We have about half a centimetre in some patches in our garden. How I have missed the snow! :cry_happy:

My chickens looked rather concerned with the change of scenery, keeping huddled up under the coop.

It did snow in the night for me. However the suns out and its melting. But it is freezing, a bowl of water in our garden froze over, once it broke we took it out, It had 1 thick layer of ice and slush in the middle and then another thick layer on top.

I can see loads of snow right out side on the balcony part (My kitchen roof is pratically extended so it is like a balcony but its fragile, you can fall through, Yeah, The guy that used to own my house as a keen DIY man...).

Finally we get snow! I began yesterday and It has gotten like 1-2 Foot deep! We only ever have light snow.

Mabye the global climates are changing!

No Buses, No Airports no real cars can move around much!

Shame it didnt come at Christmas...

Everything is good except for the little children throwing snowballs at your windows...

That is so sad. Entire cities closing down because of a little snow, it's pathetic really. :sadnew:

Does the rest of the world not understand the concept of driving slower when it's slippery, do they not know that people live in snow all the time, it's not a big deal.

Congrats on the snow Joey Lock, enjoy it, this wasn't a rant towards you, I just think it's ridiculous when cities shut down over a little snow.

Well we are not used to Snow, so we try to get as many days off work and school as we can!

I should have included that i am all for the snow day as well. Being an adult thoguh, you don't get as much time out of work as I did when i was a kid in school. For some reason if a Bus can't get around in the snow, my car is supposed to be able to.

We had snow down here and I had the day off school so I just stayed at home and later went to pick up my brother from school so we played in the snow.

Snowed here too... we were the only school in Hertfordshire that opened (as usual... :sceptic: ). It was the last day of term, so half day anyway, and lots of fun, even if the snow was a little on the powdery side for snowballs.

Then went to see St Trinian's 2 with friends; soooo funny - "Friends, Romans, Countrymen" - me and my friends were laughing so hard, whilst the rest of the cinema was silent (the cinema was in rather a lowbrow area of town...)

I broke up yesterday but after a long week of Mock GCSE Exams. Having to go in at early hours to do one exam, walking through the freezing cold and it was nice when it snowed. But the snow wasn't falling, it was blowing into my eyes!

No snow here yet but it is COLD with today a second hard frost (up to roof tops) on top of yesterdays mostly still frozen hard frost as well. Almost looks like a dusting of snow! Still a chance of some snow here, but we often don't get any all winter. The Atlantic with it's northern drift being the prevailing weather source usually just brings rain even in the winter, and even when snow comes from the east, can keep the west warm enough to make it just rain. It usually gets cold like at present when there are clear skies at night. It's quite extraordinary to think we are similar latitude to Hudson bay or Moscow though, our weather is so different!

It's been great having cold weather though as we get SUNSHINE, probably more than we actually got during the summer :) It's good to get a break from the near-constant rain we had (very bad winter floods this year). It was beautiful weather for Christmas shopping in the city centre yesterday even if one did have to wrap up well, take care on the roads, and walk carefully on the drive or any less travelled footpaths.

Well yeah we had some snow here in the north of the Netherlands as well.

They told us there would fall about 10 centimeters, next morning it came to my knees. About 40-50 cm snow! :hmpf:

Great fun in the first hours, but after that we realized we were stuck. I managed to get to school, just before it was closed. It began to snow again and I was unable to get home.

Trapped, surrounded and stranded in snow. Lucky enough I could sleep by a friend of me, otherwise I had to sleep on the streets.

Next morning I tried to get back to home, I've been torturing my cycle, and finally managed to reach home. 2 hours busy with 10 kilometers.

I'll see how I get to work today...
