Skinny Boy Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Yep, plenty here too! Very exciting, yet very cold... we need a 'cold' emoticon Quote
ADHO15 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 We only got light snow in the north-west. About 5cm deep. Quote
Jay Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Hello I have around 3-4" of snow and its snowing , I hate the snow Cheers Brogusblue Quote
brickzone Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Still waiting for possible snow here in Western Ireland - it may not arrive. The east coast, Dublin etc., has some. I hope we get it here, because it's 8 years since there was last a decent snowfall here (enough to build a snowman, etc.). It's rather cold already though - ice outside all day. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I know it was great in the snow. It got heavy enough for school to close early at lunchtime! Quote
Trexxen Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I can't believe it, but here in TN we're getting snow too! It's the first snow with actual accumulation for, oh, about 3 years or so - and I'm typing this from school, where we're being let out in about 15 minutes (3 and a half hours early) due to the weather... Kind of funny that it's the one day I chose to both not wear a jacket and not wear an undershirt - I really need to keep an eye on the weather -_- ~Trexxen Quote
SkyOtic Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Even in belgium there is snow :O this ius truly a storie for in the history books Quote
Peppermint_M Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Got kicked out of uni early today due to snow. . Not sure about work tommorrow, have to see what the roads are like. Quote
-JD- Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 For the afternoon the whole school including teachers had a huge snowball fight on the field. Thats 1200 people and LOTS of snow! I hit every teacher at least twice. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Yeah we had company emails coming from London today, only 1 runway was open in the airport so business was suffering a bit. Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I live in Surrey where the worst of the snow has been! We had around 12" of snow . School was cancelled yesterday and today. Quote

BBC Pictures Everything is good except for the little children throwing snowballs at your windows... I'd consider it a good thing that it wasn't at Christmas, since for me Christmas means traveling from the UK to The Netherlands to be with my relatives. I've been living on the South Coast of the UK for about three years now and it's the first time we had snow since. it was a mess. The airport was closed, buses were not driving and there were endless traffic jams due to numerous accidents. This part of the country obviously isn't used to dealing with snow at all and the thought of having to travel under these circumstances fills me with horror. Cardinal Brick Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 It's great, work was closed, I had no way of getting to university and then I had to dig the step down to the pavment out. Today we still didn't have any trains though buses moved slowly, we might as well put up a sign saying London is Close until further notice - BY ORDER Quote
Sandy Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 In Finland we always laugh when other countries shut their schools and workplaces when there's snow (assumably because they don't have the equipment to clear the roads). We have plenty of snow in Finland during the winter, and it doesn't phase us much. However, during the last few winters, the amount of snow has decreased drastically, and the temperature has been abnormally high. Thank you, climate change! I'm a summer type of person anyway, so during winters I prefer to stay inside and mope. Quote
Skinny Boy Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Keep laughing Sandy, we just got let out early And, theres rumors that the exams tomorrow will be cancelled! Oh dear ... yet, yay Quote
rriggs Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) In Finland we always laugh when other countries shut their schools and workplaces when there's snow (assumably because they don't have the equipment to clear the roads). That's exactly the situation. We only have light snow 2-3 times a year in Southern England and heavy snow only happens every 5-10 years. It's just not worth the local authorties spending the cash to be prepared for stuff that doesn't often happen. There's definitely better things for them to spend my taxes on! I live near London but was actually on holiday in Norfolk (about 100 miles north east of London) and although it was extremely windy we saw no snow. We saw the news reports before we went out for the day yesterday but still saw no snow all the time we were out. It wasn't until on the way home today that we finally saw snow after we had been travelling for over an hour! Inspired by the gritters that have been out and about I have designed this truck in LDD. It works out at £12 so I think I'll be getting one for sure! Cheers Rog Edited February 3, 2009 by rriggs Quote

I hit every teacher at least twice. You are lucky where you live. If you have snowball fights in school here you get a week worth of lunch time detentions. Of course before and after school is not a problem you just can't on school property. Quote
Corvus Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 What's funny is that Bend, Oregon, US, has absolutely no snow. I mean come on, this is a ski town that's next to one of the top ten resorts in the U.S., and it's 60 degrees out. Wacky, wacky weather. Quote
prateek Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 CONGRATULATIONS! that much snow is fun (manageable) here in canada there is like 4 feet on the lawn so i get so ticked off when it snows even more Quote
brickzone Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Woohoo! Finally got snow here - only about an inch, but enough to cover everything and lie on the trees/branches. First time since 2001! Dark sky this morning - hope it's more snow and not sleet or rain waiting to melt everything. Quote
-JD- Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Dark sky this morning - hope it's more snow and not sleet or rain waiting to melt everything. When you think about it, when the snow melts the weather gets colder. The water freezes and it snows. The snow settles on the ice and we get another inch or two. Then the process repeats over and over. That is the situation here anyway. But the ice is hidden on paths, so I slipped a few times on the way to the 6th Form centre. I had to help this poor old man who had slipped and could not get up (poor guy ), so this snow is not all good. JD Quote
Joey Lock Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 Should snow Tonight and tomarrow with a bit of light rain! I pray it snows tonight... Quote
