Still waiting for possible snow here in Western Ireland - it may not arrive. The east coast, Dublin etc., has some. I hope we get it here, because it's 8 years since there was last a decent snowfall here (enough to build a snowman, etc.). It's rather cold already though - ice outside all day.

I can't believe it, but here in TN we're getting snow too! It's the first snow with actual accumulation for, oh, about 3 years or so - and I'm typing this from school, where we're being let out in about 15 minutes (3 and a half hours early) due to the weather...

Kind of funny that it's the one day I chose to both not wear a jacket and not wear an undershirt - I really need to keep an eye on the weather -_-

I'd consider it a good thing that it wasn't at Christmas, since for me Christmas means traveling from the UK to The Netherlands to be with my relatives. I've been living on the South Coast of the UK for about three years now and it's the first time we had snow since. it was a mess. The airport was closed, buses were not driving and there were endless traffic jams due to numerous accidents. This part of the country obviously isn't used to dealing with snow at all and the thought of having to travel under these circumstances fills me with horror.

Cheers,

Ralph

It's great, work was closed, I had no way of getting to university and then I had to dig the step down to the pavment out. Today we still didn't have any trains though buses moved slowly, we might as well put up a sign saying

London is Close until further notice -

In Finland we always laugh when other countries shut their schools and workplaces when there's snow (assumably because they don't have the equipment to clear the roads). We have plenty of snow in Finland during the winter, and it doesn't phase us much.

However, during the last few winters, the amount of snow has decreased drastically, and the temperature has been abnormally high. Thank you, climate change!

I'm a summer type of person anyway, so during winters I prefer to stay inside and mope.

That's exactly the situation. We only have light snow 2-3 times a year in Southern England and heavy snow only happens every 5-10 years. It's just not worth the local authorties spending the cash to be prepared for stuff that doesn't often happen. There's definitely better things for them to spend my taxes on! :hmpf_bad:

I live near London but was actually on holiday in Norfolk (about 100 miles north east of London) and although it was extremely windy we saw no snow. We saw the news reports before we went out for the day yesterday but still saw no snow all the time we were out. It wasn't until on the way home today that we finally saw snow after we had been travelling for over an hour!

Inspired by the gritters that have been out and about I have designed this truck in LDD. It works out at £12 so I think I'll be getting one for sure!

You are lucky where you live. If you have snowball fights in school here you get a week worth of lunch time detentions. :hmpf_bad: Of course before and after school is not a problem you just can't on school property.

What's funny is that Bend, Oregon, US, has absolutely no snow. I mean come on, this is a ski town that's next to one of the top ten resorts in the U.S., and it's 60 degrees out.

Wacky, wacky weather.

Woohoo! Finally got snow here - only about an inch, but enough to cover everything and lie on the trees/branches. First time since 2001!

Dark sky this morning - hope it's more snow and not sleet or rain waiting to melt everything.

When you think about it, when the snow melts the weather gets colder. The water freezes and it snows. The snow settles on the ice and we get another inch or two. Then the process repeats over and over. That is the situation here anyway. But the ice is hidden on paths, so I slipped a few times on the way to the 6th Form centre. I had to help this poor old man who had slipped and could not get up (poor guy  ), so this snow is not all good.
