I edited the title and poll to make it easier to understand.

I voted for Two Towers, I just love this film.

It story line flows so much easier, as in FOTR they have to set the scene and ROTK has to finish it. TTT has the whole film to continue the story and it does it so well. I really love the battle of helms deep, probably the best battle in the whole trilogy!

For me it's Fellowship.

First of all, I came together with my first girlfriend when we were at the theater for watching this movie so it has a special meaning for me (sorry Dana :P). Second reason is, it IS just the best of the movies, it's not all about fighting and killing and such (which aren't my favourite movie plots) and it shows just perfectly this perfect fantasy world of Tolkien with all its details.

My 2ct.

i'll vote for fellowship as well, even tho it's not on my all time top 10. the other two have great special effects but the story of fellowship is better, i guess...

When I saw Two Towers in the theatre, I was disappointed. Then I got the extended version, and it is totaly awesome. They cut so much key material, it really weakened the movie.

The battle of Helm's Deep is the best epic battle I have ever seen in any movie. Even though the battle at Gondor was bigger, the Helm's deep battle was darker, more involving. The scene when the Elves arrive to help the Men of Gondor brought tears to my eyes (this may have to do with my long-standing Tolkien fandom and knowledge of how little Elves normally cared for the affairs of men, and what a sacrifice this meant for the Elves, who would otherwise be essentially immortal and were leaving Middle Earth anyway).
