The Middleman Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 I mean... come on. |:| That is completely ridiculous. Anyone else here had bad experiences with UPS/Fed-Ex/USPS/what have you? Share 'em here... although I don't expect anything to beat my derailed train. :-D PS - the package in question is a Monty Python t-shirt. A really awesome one. I was going to wear it on Friday. Quote
MattZitron Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 1st Story: UPS When I lived in Brooklyn I had an Amazon delivery coming Via UPS. Cause UPS are morons I waited for the delivery. So I'm waiting and watching the PC and suddenly the PC said they'd tried to deliver and I wasn't there. So I called UPS. The guy had tried to deliver to a completely different address the next street over. It wasn't like the names of the streets were similar, they were COMPLETELY different. Moral, UPS are morons. 2nd Story: Royal Mail This very morning (30th) my doorbell goes and its because I have a special delivery letter to sign for. Its from Universal and says it has to be next delivery. I open the letter up and I'd won 2 tickets to League of Gentlemen Live. Problem, the tickets were for yesterday (the 29th) in London. I live in Edinburgh. The Royal Mail idiots had disregarded my post code, and the letter had in fact taken 2 days to get to me. So not only had I missed the show, but being a day late meant I couldn't arrange for other people to go. Moral Royal Mail are idiots. I actually have LOADS of stories about Royal Mail's incompitence, but I don't have all day. Quote
gylman Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Being a compulsive eBay and Bricklink shopper, as well as a knife collector, and having received and sent packages to and from Australia Singapore ++ Hong Kong ++ Japan ++ Switzerland France + Belgium Italy Israel Netherlands ++ Germany +++ Spain + Brazil Mexico USA +++ Canada +++ and the United Kingdom (all 3 parts) +++ (and I am sure there are other countries I forgot) I can state without fear of being wrong that the worst mail service in the world from a civilized country (well, more or less civilized) both most expensive and slowest/least reliable, is Royal Mail from England. I have found the US Postal Service, to my surprise, to be quite excellent! Spain and German y also stand out. Cheers. Gyl Quote

Gyl I hate to be a stickler for details but there are 4 parts of the United Kingdom. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. But Royal Mail is a piece of poo. Quote

Norro Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 New Zealand's postal system is one of the best in the world... almost anything you send domestically arrives the next day... Personnaly I've found ups/fedex maxed out in the 90s. For a little while there you could get something practically anywhere (developed world) next day. You can't now. God Bless, Nathan Quote
The Middleman Posted September 30, 2005 Author Posted September 30, 2005 Don't you dare say that! UPS is not made of morons. >:( *n* Actually, I agree with him... not necessarily the actual delivery people (although they have been known to forget where I live), but at least the people that organize the business itself... it's awful. By the way, my package is now delayed until the 3rd. Of course, it's IN my city now, but I can't pick it up (another shortcoming of UPS). Quote
babyjawa Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 My dad is a driver andhe has never brought a package to the wrong house. He has also never been in an accident. Quote

Out of the many UPS packages I got while in the US, not one was not either delayed or wrongly delivered. I also know of many frineds who've had problems with them, including companies who have dropped them as their shipper. AND in the UK I've had HUGE problems with UPS, and their inability to do something as simple as redelivering. Babyjawa, I'm sure your Dad is the exception that proves the rule. Quote
jonfett Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 I have never had any serious problems with deliveries before, but one time I had ordered something which was being delivered through a courier (can't remember the compnay). Anyway, I was sat in the kitchen when a note came through the back door saying 'We tried to deliver the item to you, but no one was in etc..'. Of course, this was complete bull as I was sat 5 metres away from the door and I didn't hear anyone knock. If I'd of been changed I would have gone out and asked what the hell the guy was doing, but I was still in pyjamas. Fortunately they called the next day (yes they actually rang the bell! ;)) and I got my parcel, but it just seems lazy not to be bothered calling. Jon. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 I once ordered a snowspeeder from LEGO S@H, and something went wrong (I'm not sure what) and it took five weeks to get to my house. :() (I live only 5 ship days away) Though they did not charge me for shipping... Quote
xwingyoda Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 I personally never had a problem with shipping (except the fact that SAH still sends sets to my parents' house !!!). But I found this shel gallery on poor shipping condition of Amazon !! http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=147671 Quote
keetongu Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Off topic:Yoda it says the folder isn't public. On topic:I have had a delay where I'd already recieved my brickmaster comic and magizine then some time later it came and said my magizine and comic will be here soon.No other problems. Moral:Some shippers are useless bafoons. Quote
Centaur Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Hmm.....Does 2 months for the episode 2 stuff count? That made me very angry. At least shipping was free :-D Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 2, 2005 Governor Posted October 2, 2005 This thread's title is misleading because it isn't shipping - its training! Quote
