Aaron Morse Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Hi there! My poor StuGs needed someone to fight and after bending Daniel Siskind's ear a bit here's the prototype Here's a little diorama of a knocked out Sherman with a StuG Quote
Capn Frank Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Nice tank Aaron! I like the use of the "x-wing engine" in the front. Are those treads modified? I think the engine for your new tank is over heating in that last image. Quote
Aaron Morse Posted December 17, 2008 Author Posted December 17, 2008 (edited) Yup modified..horrible I know. I'll probably end up in Lego Hell someday for this where all they'll have to play with is MegaBloks and Lincoln Logs. Yeah, the Sherman didn't know it was a non-smoking vig, so the StuG put it out for him...BLAM! Nice tank Aaron! I like the use of the "x-wing engine" in the front. Are those treads modified? I think the engine for your new tank is over heating in that last image. Edited December 17, 2008 by Aaron Morse Quote
Skinny Boy Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Great tanks Aaron Whats with the smoke in the dio pic? Cool effect, or bad habit? Quote
Aaron Morse Posted December 17, 2008 Author Posted December 17, 2008 Hopefully a cool effect, 37 years old and I have never smoked a cigarette. I put some kleenex in a tea light candle holder, lit it and then blew it out so that it smoldered and put it under the rear of the Tank. Just a test for an up coming scene idea I have. Great tanks Aaron Whats with the smoke in the dio pic? Cool effect, or bad habit? Quote
Zorro Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Congrats to you, Aaron Morse! Your Sherman M4 looks great and the other one next to it (the Stug I presume?) looks fantastic as well, i like how you put all those soldiers on top of it. Did the Sherman's come in that color of Grey? I thought they were greenish or brown? But I could be wrong of course. I like the smoke-effect too, although it would look better with a good (blue horizon?) background, but that's a lot of work, I know . keep 'em coming! Quote
Guss Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 did you cut the crawler parts ? quite strange ! anyway, that's a nice tank ^^ Quote

Yeah they were green, but the dark green color lego has doesn't have the types of pieces I need. Eventually it will be all Dark Grey and the dark Bley will be gone. Yup thats a Sturmgeschutz III see this thread for more pics http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=21811 did you cut the crawler parts ? quite strange !anyway, that's a nice tank ^^ Yup....I cut em. Actually it worked out to be cheaper than using the single stud wide tracks in two rows. Edited December 17, 2008 by Aaron Morse Quote
Brickadier General Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I've seen your stuff on flickr before Aaron. Good work on these. I've never really done modern war vehicles before, but I've pulled out my Brickmania instruction CD and decided to go with the Halftrack. Of course, I don't have enough chain link pieces... Quote
Nirdian Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Cool tank! Very cool even! But... but... you cut up ALL these thread pieces?! MOC: 8/10 LEGO cruelty: -5/10 Total: 3/10 My purist heart just stopped beating there for a second... Other than that, awesome job! Quote

I'm envious of your Brickmania instruction CD, thanks for the comments, make sure you post pics of your half-track ;-) Cool tank! Very cool even! But... but... you cut up ALL these thread pieces?!
