Ryan_T Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 (edited) Ship battles! Navy Battles! Islander Battles! Pirate Battles! FROG BATTLES! wait did I say frog? 0_o sorry. yea Just do a movie about a average pirate life. You go plunder a bit, you pillage a nearby village. you eat. then go to a tavern, get drunk and cause a fight. when your sober you sing a pirate tune. then you pillage some more. bury your treasure and wake up from your dream. thats a average KIDS dream. aha!!!! The part where you wake up can be changed to go to sleep for the pirates. :) Edited December 11, 2008 by Davy_Blocks Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Are you ok with the stop motion process and how to make a stop motion film? Quote
Ryan_T Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Are you ok with the stop motion process and how to make a stop motion film? Well Cap'n The bad ones get the most YouTube views... I on one hand have a natural ability to make adequate films. not long ones but short ones. although I like 15 FPS I have tried 25 *I think it is 25* FPS and am quite good at that to. If he doesn't make it well.. I will give it a go. But I would need lots more pirate stuff.. DONATE PLEASE!!! lol j/k, but if you want to :) PM me! Quote
pe668 Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Well Cap'n The bad ones get the most YouTube views... Sorry Davy but I'm going to agree with Zuloo here, aim your sights high, do some research, learn some technics, make a great film. I've seen the Captains Brickfilm and it's great, but I couldn't find any Davy_Block films. A brickfilm, isn't a Brickfilm Without a film! As for ideas, I like to see action and for pirates it's fighting, punching, sword fights, wrestling, cannon fire. You are aiming at a long length so dedicate some time to quieter moments. The contrast will make the action more powerful. Good luck Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 (edited) Haha, I'm working on a video as well, an useful technique is Greenscreening. With some experience you can make the most wonderful movies with awesome backgrounds. There are a lot of turtorials on the web which teach you how to do greenscreening. The only problem may be the software, if you don't want to pay for it it's difficult to find a free, good video-editing program. But whitout greenscreening I believe you can make some nice videos as well. Good luck on your movie! I'm looking forward to the result. Edited December 11, 2008 by Cap'n Blackmoor Quote
MrTools Posted December 11, 2008 Author Posted December 11, 2008 Dont worry im fine with my animation process ive recently gotten a new camera and increased my framerat im working on storybards, scripts, and sets now but i still need some pirates Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Read books, watch films, build great MOCs for it and get inspired! But good humor is crucial IMO Quote
CPT. Jr Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I like stop motion animation, i greated an award winning 15 min short called nobeards map, the plot was desighned to be intense, however, the plot is hard to transfer to the audience by the use of legos, expecially talkind. My next film wil involve a ton of greenscreening (picked up at goodwill :pir_laugh2: ). However be wary it takes alot of time my fim included over 5000 pictures and took months to make. Software i would recomend for all movie making vegas movie studio 8 Blender (?) FX lap pro (insane special effects cannon blast to lightsabre) some othe sony programs that i forgot their names Plots, well i can't hep you alot there I have little free time right know and am working on my own, for the production of a playtmobil roman movie entitled "III" (instead of 300) the battle of monopoly. Captain Zuloo Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Software! What do you plan to use? Firstly to animate? Quote
Oky Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 How about an average pirate story narrated from the point of view of the pirate's parrot or monkey? He could be mocking pirate cliches that he observes. Could be funny, but probably not worth 10 mins of video. Or how about a story of a pirate who buries a treasure chest and accidentally throws away the map that shows where he hid it? He could chase around the seven seas in order to get the map back and find his treasure again. He fights islanders, imperials, and sea monsters until he finally finds the map and returns to his treasure chest - only to find out that there was only something totally invaluable inside! There are many things you could do! As Captain green hair said, watch other pirate films and build interesting MOCs to get inspired. Quote
Guss Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 will it be an "historically accurate" movie ? or a "fantasy" one ? Maybe I can Help^^ Quote
