danth Posted August 4 Posted August 4 So it turns out Bricklink absolutely cannot estimate shipping. AT ALL. I've attempted to sell two items, and for both, bricklink was wildly off. Like orders of magnitude. For one set, Bricklink estimated $31 shipping. It was over $100. Bricklink has the weight and dimensions for each set so I don't know why it's so bad. I've tried multiple estimation methods. The default and Carrier API or whatever it's called. So it's manual invoicing only, sadly. Anyway, it also turns out that shipping is ridiculously expensive now. Yay.
danth Posted Tuesday at 08:53 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:53 PM Okay so I've been selling and requiring invoices to estimate shipping myself. So far, that's working. I'm advising buyers not to select priority for big sets because shipping is crazy. Also found out that in the US at least, if you pay for shipping online (Click 'n Ship), you get a sizeable discount. Also if you sign up for a business account, you get another discount. Adds up to almost half off in some cases. This is good because I think buyers would balk at the shipping prices before the discounts.
aFrInati0n Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Are any effects felt on Bricklink having less amount of shops offering parts since the PPWR finally got active by yesterday? Asking as I recognized some German online-shops not offering their service outside their own country of jurisdiction, as those PPWR requirements may be very nasty to fulfill & creating additional costs. I would assume plenty of Bricklink Shops may go the same route - overall the amount of offers may be less than before. I would be curious if regular users of the platform are recognizing this already / directly.
