AmperZand Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 I spotted this article on the BBC's site about a professional LEGO builder. It's part of a series on dream jobs. Personally, I'd prefer to design sets, especially ones for the Castle line. That would be seriously cool! But his job would be cool too. Amps Quote
mrchris Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 I work with someone who apparently used to do this for a job... i dont know him well enough to ask him about it though Quote
The Rancor Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 That's my dream too. Guess I'll have to prove myself useful first Quote
-JD- Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 I'd want to have a part time job at LEGO shops/sorting houses, and instead of money, I get sets and peices! Dream on, I know.... Quote
Lorentzen Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 How can you get this kind of job? What's the education that I'll need to get this job? Quote
The Rancor Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 How can you get this kind of job? What's the education that I'll need to get this job? I'm not sure how this weighs out in Denmark, but in the Uk you proabably need a university diploma in design to attract any attention at all! Quote
JimBee Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Yeah, that would be pretty awesome job. With any and every Lego piece at my command, I bet I could make some pretty cool stuff. But what's better than that? Master builders like this guy with any piece that he/ she needs... Quote
Talon Karrde Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Mark Stafford (you may know him as Nabii or from House of Nabii) is a designer for the lego company, he was instrumental in the production of the new power miners sets. As for qualifications for this job, art and design, possibly a bit of architecture and technology thrown into the mixer would probably be good. Art and English, thats what i'm banking on Quote
Remi Diel Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 From what I've discovered about becoming a master builder at Legoland California education is far less important than skill with bricks. I'm not sure about the enrty process now, but from what I was told you're put in a room with a few other applicants and each person is given a small amount of Legos to work with. As for what is done with the small amount of Legos, I'm not sure. If I had to guess I would say whoever builds the most impressive MOC out of the parts moves on to more skill challenges. However, this is just about Legoland, the Lego company might have a completely different set of rules for hiring new employees. I'll try to find some more info on this, I doubt the complete entry steps are a secret for the parks, we'll have to see when it comes to the company. - Remi Quote

Nabii designed them? Well I'll certainly have to look them over again with a more forgiving eye, if they're designed by the same guy who designed this! The aforementioned this Quote
