samthelegoman1 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 (edited) It's no doubt that many of the agents characters are based loosely on the James Bond series. I have made up a list: Dr. Inferno-Ernst Stavro Blofeld Break Jaw-Jaws Agent Chase-James Bond Gold Tooth-Auric Goldfinger Share your findings! Edited June 24, 2009 by samthelegoman1 Quote
Still Raindrop Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I agree, although I'm not sure that the characters are that specific. Break Jaw was obviously inspired by Jaws, and Gold Tooth seems to be a mix of Auric Goldfinger and Francisco Scaramanga. However, I think that Ogel from the AT series was much more closely modeled after Blofeld. True, Inferno does have the scar . . . . Quote
Ricecracker Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 This should answer some of your questions. Quote
Darth_Legois Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I dont really see how Agent Fuse is like James Bond ....also Bond doesnt have a scared face. If any of them represent Bond it'd be Chase. Also Golden Gun in Gold Hunt set anyone? Quote
Oky Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Well, the Turbo Car is definitely inspired by Bond Cars. Other than that, there aren't that many similarities IMHO, but then again, I'm not a big Bond fan. Quote

Afterall he got captured at the Volcano Base and Trace & Chase have to rescue him! I agree with Oky that the Turbo Car is definitely inspired by the Bond Car's And Trace is the Bond Girl? More like the new Bond Girl in Quantum Of Solace....She aint just eye candy. Also I just add BrickArms to my Agents...Thats why I now like them EVEN MORE Quote
Oky Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) I dont really see how Agent Fuse is like James Bond ....also Bond doesnt have a scared face. He doesn't wear geeky glasses either. If any of them represent Bond it'd be Chase. I agree. However, judging from his sunglasses, Chase seems more inspired by Tom Cruise's character in Mission: Impossible. (On a side note: If you take off his hair, he kinda looks like a Bruce Willis or Van Diesel type of character! ) And Trace is the Bond Girl? More like the new Bond Girl in Quantum Of Solace....She aint just eye candy. True. Another thing that makes her different from a Bond Girl is that she is working with Chase from the beginning on. Bond Girls are usually just random hot chicks that he meets during his mission and which end up helping him complete it, or tagging along at least. Bond Girls are often victims rescued by Bond, fellow agents or allies, villainesses or members of an enemy organization. Some are mere eye candy and have no direct involvement in Bond's mission; other Bond Girls play a pivotal role in the success of the mission. - Wikipedia Edited November 27, 2008 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote

Yeaahh And the dark hair aswell....Maybe he's more of a Jason Bourne guy aswell...Not that I remember him wearing sunglasses.....[Just noticed James Bond and Jason Bourne both have their initials as JB! ] BTW mission imposible is like....crap. Its like a cheap tom cruise rip-off 007. True, But Chase has to rescue her in SpeedBoat Rescue! Which just screams Bond Girl to me. But that's about it..... True about the Bond Girls meeting him halfway through. Wiki? Yuk. Even though I go on it often. Quote
brickzone Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 There are also elements of the Incredibles or such with the stereotypical uniforms (no capes) and Dr. Inferno reminds me of the villain. The vehicles also seem to have aspects of Thunderbirds (like the truck having all the little vehicles in it!) Quote

Capt. Redblade Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 It's no doubt that many of the agents characters are based loosely on the James Bond series. I have made up a list:Dr. Inferno-Ernst Stavro Blofeld Break Jaw-Jaws Agent Fuse-James Bond Gold Tooth-Auric Goldfinger Share your findings! Funny. I would've thought Chase to bee 007, and Fuse seems more like Q. (To me he seems like the brainy gadget type.) Also, I think you missed a couple: Saw Fist-Tee Hee Johnson Trace-Every Bond Girl to date ( But especially Anya Amasova from The Spy Who Loved Me) Claw-dette-The villainous femme fatale a la Elektra King, May Day, Miranda Frost, etc. There are also elements of G.I. Joe, but I won't go into that. Quote
Iron Moose Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 There are also elements of G.I. Joe, but I won't go into that. Please do. I only noticed the laser in the volcano. Quote
Batbrick Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Well, the Turbo Car is definitely inspired by Bond Cars. Other than that, there aren't that many similarities IMHO, but then again, I'm not a big Bond fan. You're obviously missing a lot of Bond knowledge. Let the master through guys! Agent Trace is very much like Wai Lin, Jacinta Jinx and Anya Amasova in that she is a fellow spy, and atleast in my Agents universe, has a romantic connection to Chase. Inferno exhibits many Bond villain traits, including collarless trenchcoat, eye scar (very Blofeldish) and a robot limb, not unlike Tee Hee. The Volcano Base is beautifully ripped from Ernst Stavro Blofeld's missile launch base in You Only Live Twice. The Turbo Car is very much a pastiche of the many classic Bond cars of the years, the ejector seat originating from the Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger. Trace being kidnapped in Speedboat Rescue is very akin to how a supposedly skilled female agent will always get captured for Bond to save, like Anya by Karl Stromberg. Breakjaw is quite obviously inspired by Jaws from The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker. Gold Tooth is an ingenious meld of the obsessed Auric Goldfinger from Goldfinger, and Francisco Scaramanga from The Man With The Golden Gun. The coloured enemy jumpsuits are very evocative of the Spectre organisation's generic minions clothing. A little bit of a stretch, but James Bond has come across many sharks in his career, such as in Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only and License to Kill. He also came across crocodiles in Live and Let Die. The monorail is a classic, utilised also in Blofeld's Volcano Base. Of course the giant laser is very akin to the weapons (space based or not) from Diamonds Are Forever, GoldenEye and Die Another Day. Naturally Agents has many references to other media of course, but 007 is a prevailing one. We really need more juicy "reference" themes, the only ones I can think of right now are the LOTR inspired Castle and this. Batbrick Away! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Can we just say that Agents was based on any number of Spy films and series? That's how it seems to me. In the end they are secret agents battling against a larger than life Villian and his henchmen. The theme reminded me of Condorman, with the turbo car and the speedboat, I'd love to make a gypsy caravan to hide my turbo car under. One last thing that I have associated with Agents has inspired my very cool MOC that I am working on... But as mentioned in another topic, it must stay under wraps so as not to give any clues. Quote

Even Kim Possible could have been an inspiration for this theme (the main villain of that show has a certain resemblance with Inferno). Quote
Luke McAwesome Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 (edited) I don't see much of a resemblance... I have yet to get an Inferno minifig, and yet I have a love for the Agents theme. I don't have the main villain of one of my faorite themes! Edited June 20, 2009 by Striker™ Quote
Capt. Redblade Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Please do. I only noticed the laser in the volcano. Alright, alright. But only because you asked so nicely. First of all, Claw-dette is kind of similar to the Baroness, Chase et al mirror Duke et al, and the Inferno henchmen with their matching jumpsuits are kind of like the matching Cobra Troopers. Quote
Emperor Claudius Rome Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Theres some, but agents has inspiration from lots of spy movies and shows. Quote
