Minifig Lecturer Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Heard this 'news' story being discussed on the radio whilst driving into work... http://www.mirror.co.uk/life-style/sex-hea...15875-20845890/ The woman on the radio said she was a huge lego fan when younger... there's hope out there guys ;) Quote
Sandy Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I saw that news on a website just now, too. It's really quite endearing and romantic. Nevertheless, I'm not so nuts on LEGO that I'd want my engagement or wedding to be centered around them... I can imagine what that couple's wedding cake will look like. Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 (edited) That's devoted! I thought I had a huge LEGO problem, but this guy takes the cake. The wedding cake with minifigs on it that is. My god that bloke is obsessed! Edited October 28, 2008 by Captain Zuloo Quote
chris_austin Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Along with the free LEGO sets being given away with The Daily Mirror, the newspaper has been printing a few LEGO related stories. The story in today's edition is about AFOL Simon Burfield and his fiancee Stephanie Nicholls from Farnborough, Hampshire, England. Summary: Girlfriend watches lots of Soaps on T.V. so simon starts buying LEGO to keep his mind active and to be creative. Sometime later another girlfriend finds his LEGO hobby a bit odd. More time later, Simon and Stephanie reunite (they were at school together) through Facebook, send a load of messages and later go an a date. He tells her about his LEGO while on this first date and she is ok with it because she was already falling in love. 9 months later, Stephanie arranged, with the help of LEGOland Windsor and some of Simon's friends, a trip to LEGOland and a treasure hunt which ended with a clue to find her in the centre of the park's maze with a LEGO rose and a ring which she proposed to him with! The couple are now planning their LEGO themed wedding next year. There were many more details which I have left out but it was a very cute story. I also didn't include several puns but here's an example anyway: "No doubt once they've tied the knot, they'll soon start building a family..." Quote
Guss Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 The woman on the radio said she was a huge lego fan when younger... there's hope out there guys ;) my girlfriend loves Lego too, she play with it oftenly, and she gave me some advices and even built a little part of my Ptv entry ^^ anyway that's a nice story ^^ but there is something I read at the end of the article : It would take 40,000,000,000 Lego bricks to reach the moon. so, when do we start to build a tower to the moon? ^^ Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Perhaps that can be a Eurobricks community project? Hahaha. Wouldn't that make headlines - "LEGO forum members build tower to the moon" Hehehe. Quote
Badsneaker Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 That is a very cool story. My wife "tolerates" LEGO, but this is over the top! Quote
iamded Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 That's awesome. He's one lucky bloke! ~Peace Quote
Alice Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 This is sweet and I can relate... Shadows told me about his Lego hobby addiction and at first I thought it was odd. This was a couple of years ago. Right now, I have 3 minifigs staring at me and 2 minifig heads laying on my keyboard as well as a large zip lock bag full of minifig parts laying next to me and my whole dining room table is covered in Lego. I have my own little Lego collection. Also, just FYI, minifigs are really too small for a wedding cake topper if it is a full scale tiered wedding cake (I've thought about it). I hadn't even played with Lego as a child so it's all new to me. Lego will continue to be a big part of my life and I'm very excited about that actually. Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 It’s a nice story, though I wonder if it would have been published if they weren’t giving Lego away. On the issue of the cake I thought they’d have brick built miniland style figures, or a small cake. Quote
