Milan Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Thanks CP5670, nice concept! I have similar idea, but it was too complicated to integrate that concept into scale model. I am working on 3 studs wide outriggers with Pneumatics on the ends. But, 3 studs wide are both outriggers together, and are motorized. All of that on just 20 studs wide crane carrier. I will open tread when I build the chassis of Liebherr. Quote
Anio Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Look, there is no U-joint. PS : thanks @ Seb from SeTechnic. Quote
tomacwhite Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I've never had a Technic tractor before so I am quite interested in this. However, I saw it on the Toys R Us (UK) website last week and it was listed as £89.99! Seems very expensive considering the 8275 Bulldozer is £10 more and you get SO much more with it. Quote
Milan Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 That is really too much for this set. It seems to simple, with very few gears and mechanisms... Quote

5150 Lego Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Other than new front fairings, the tractor is identical to the one we got 2 yrs ago. So is this available now? Quote
Anio Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 20t simple bevel/12t simple bevel. And no pendular suspension. Quote
tomacwhite Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 20t simple bevel/12t simple bevel. And no pendular suspension. This looks like a disappointing model considering the price and what else Lego have released this year. £20 more then the Front Loader and nowhere near the detail/features. Also, is it odd for Lego to release one more Technic product after their summer lineup? Quote
tomacwhite Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 There is a review of the 8063 Tractor and Trailer on brickset, so I guess it's available now. It's on the US Toys R Us website for $99, and the UK Toys r Us site for £89. LOL! However, its still not on the Lego site itself, which is rather odd, no? Quote

I guess I'll have to drive over there are take a look! Quote
CP5670 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 That set looks pretty unimpressive even if you ignore the fact that it's a copy of 8284. Not much functionality for a $100 set. The one thing I do like is that it includes some 1x2 tiles with red stripes, which I think are printed. When was the last time we got printed pieces in Technic sets? Still, 8265 looks like a far better buy and actually costs less. Quote
tomacwhite Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Go get it, Blakbird! Look forward to the review and photos :) Quote
Blakbird Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Go get it, Blakbird! Look forward to the review and photos :) Who am I to turn down a fellow AFOL? I just picked it up. I'll build it and write a review in the next few days. I also picked up a second copy of 8258 so I can build the alternate model and write about that. Quote

The alternate model for 8258 is fab looking, can't wait to see pics of both! :) Edited August 15, 2009 by tomacwhite Quote
tomacwhite Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I just saw that it has 1100 pieces, so its another huge set for this year.. Maybe next year we will see a Technic flagship break 2000 pieces? Quote
Blakbird Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) I just saw that it has 1100 pieces, so its another huge set for this year.. It does have a lot of pieces, but they kind of cheated by putting two sets in one box: the tractor and the trailer. The tractor does indeed look identical to 8284 except for the color. The trailer has a linear actuator as well as the new panels in a new color. The "alternate model" is really just a different trailer; the tractor is unchanged. Again, this seems cheesy. Here is my guess. Toys 'R Us wanted an exclusive set. TLG didn't want to put too much work into it, and maybe they even had some extra inventory of the old parts (like the differential) laying around. So they designed a new trailer and said "good enough". Keep in mind that the 8284 tractor was never marketed as a tractor in the USA (it was that lame dune buggy instead). This means that, in a sense, this is the first time this tractor has been released in the USA. When I do my review, I'll be doing it independent of the fact that the tractor is a copy. I'll let the merits of the model stand on their own. By the way, there is nothing on the box to indicate that it is a TRU exclusive, so it may not be. That's just the only place I have heard it reported being seen. Edited August 16, 2009 by Blakbird Quote

CP5670 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 (edited) I got the new Lego Education catalog today and the various pneumatic service packs have been introduced again, now in the trans-light blue color. The best part is that airtanks are also available for the very good price (compared to what they used to be) of $15 for two. I think we may just see pneumatics return to Technic sets in the next year or two. There is also an LA service pack now, but they are quite expensive at $15 for one. It might make more sense to just get an 8265 instead, which includes 3 of them. I still see 9V polarity switches in the catalog, even though I called them about that several months ago and was told those were discontinued and OOS. Edited August 20, 2009 by CP5670 Quote
Front Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 (edited) I bought this set a few weeks ago, got air-tank, etc. 9641, Pneumatics Add-On Set ...and yes the actuators/pumps are not yellow but trans-blue. Edited August 20, 2009 by Front Quote

This set has been around for a while, but it was always rather expensive for what you got. I think the new service packs of individual parts are much more affordable and very good for MOCers. Quote
tomacwhite Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Maybe the leaked 1H2010 Forest Tractor with Crane will feature pneumatics? That would be great :) Quote
LordGalewind Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) Maybe the leaked 1H2010 Forest Tractor with Crane will feature pneumatics? That would be great :) I am hoping it will be something like 8443...I don't want an 8284 or 8063 style tractor with those attachments...it would be a very bad move on LEGO's part. Edited August 28, 2009 by LordGalewind Quote
tomacwhite Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Somthing 8443 would be great, all modernised with maybe a new colour scheme (orange or white would be cool). I agree, it has to be a different model to the 8063 tractor which is already a duplicate. I looked at some pictures online of "Forest Tractors" and they are not like the traditional type, so we should be in for a new, fresh looking design. Quote
Anio Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 The building instruction of the 8063 is now available on the Lego website. Quote
