As Halloween approaches, I felt it was time to change my avatar to something appropriate. Glancing at a spare Captain Redbeard sitting on a shelf, I realised that his torso would make the perfect scary military style uniform necessary for a headless horseman figure I had thought of making, and the epaulettes and cutlass would match well too.

I added a basic black cape and swapped out his hook and yellow hand to represent black gloves, then topped off with a jack-o-lantern to end up with this:

It isn't the most original build in the world, but it gets the job done.

So, as we approach a new era for pirates, complete with new minifigs, what else could you do with your classic pirate torsos? What do you think could be made with them?

Please share your ideas here, and if you have pics, those are most certainly welcome as well. :jollyroger:

I use that very same torso for my Napoleonic Army, I usually make them into a German or Austrian unit (landwehr) , they carry top hats and the brown epaulettes.

A good call there. In the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, the horseman was a Hessian during the Revolutionary War, so that's not a bad match at all.

Nice avatar, by the way. My dream theme would be a cross between Pirates and Wild West in the form of Zorro. :pir-sweet:

ImperialShadows has become a pumpkinheaded fiend! Not that he wasn't before, it's just really obvious now :pir_laugh2: (HA! I kill you with your own smiley!)

I see the the headless horseman resembelence from the Legend of Sleep, it somewhat reminds me of Oo7's entry for last years's Pirate Halloween contest, except a bit more pumpkiny.

Good joke Mister Phes! :pir-classic: I shall burn ImperialShadow's pumpkin head in my PTV contest entry. (Well, that's a maybe, OR I MIGHT DO IT FOR REAL! :jollyroger:
